Guards skins
« on: January 01, 2010, 07:37:45 PM »
I like the way the Guards look, and I was wonderinng what uniform the guards are wearing. For example, the strelky and conscripts are wearing the m43 (they look great btw). I can see the m43 collar under the Guards jacket, but I cant tell what the Guards are wearing over it.

 They're making a fashion statement.
They are the elite, after all.
You know, there are many people in the country today who, through no fault of their own, are sane. Some of them were born sane. Some of them became sane later in their lives. It is up to people like you and me who are out of our tiny little minds to try and help these people overcome their sanity

I say pink frilly dresses, mini skirts, pink high heels and
hot candy pink bows on their heads and guns. And the guns
being prettily adorned with flowers ;)

... What? They're the elite, the meanest, the... ;)

... Personally, I think conscripts should turn into Svelky,
then into guards to upgrade. And could only buy conscripts
until at least ONE upgraded to Svelky status, and
so on, same to Guard... :)

 But that's just me :)

I like the long winter capes, makes them look winter hardened and resistant to the Russian winter. Also the SVT is basically Gewehr43, (PE rifle upgrade)
"That's absolutely shitty"

Correction, the G43 is basically the SVT-40.  For all of their tech, the Germans still had to copy Russia to get a semiautomatic rifle that worked.

 He's right. Ge43 came after the SVT-40. Hint :
1943 vs 1940 ;) But, I'd say the Russian AK47 is copied on
 the MP43 ;)

God, even the PPSH is superior to the MP40.
Would the DPsK be superior to the MG42? :)

You see ford, all three ( MP43, MP44 and StG44) are the same.  The renaming was partially a way to deceive the allies and partially a way to deceive Hitler.  "Nein, new gun every year!"  All of this is from memory, but I haven't been grossly wrong yet.  MP = Machine Pistol ( but in German )
StG = SturmGewer or Assaut Rifle

This is why I hate the term assault rifle or assault weapon.  I mean Hitler coined the term himself and was not renown for his good ideas.

BTW, M16A4 = Battle Rifle not assault rifle as it is not an automatic but only selective fire.  Marines don't waste ammo.

Actually it's Maschinenpistole and Sturmgewehr.
Also, to especially all the "proud" Americans here: The M60 looks awefull similiar to the MG42, doesn't it?   ;)
(And your space-program could hardly exist without the V2-engineers. The list goes on and on, so believe me, do yourself a favour and stop thinking "America-is-the-best".)

Another thing: Isn't the M16A4 an assault rifle and the M14 was the battle-rifle? That's why those "new" squad-sniper-rifles are called EBR?

But now BTT plz! :)

 - Oh, hey. I was trying to keep the discussion brief and all :)
 - 110% Score on the MP43/MP44/STG44. Deceive the allies?
More like Hitler. Which had expressively said no to making an
'assault rifle' (weird technology, we got enough of those).
So the STG44 was branded a MP40 upgrade, which Hitler
was fine with. The end result was a weapon the troops
liked so much, and which had such yummy results, that
Hitler, presented with the 'fait accomplit' ordered more to
 be made.

And yes, MP43, MP44 and STG44 is the same weapon.
And STG does mean Assault Gun, and MP is Machine
 Pistol.

And, ye, M60 is the descendant of the MG42, so meh ;)
Improved, of course, but still 20-30 yrs down the line ;)

As for Battle Rifle/Assault Rifle, true, it's 3-shot burst.
But initial versions could auto fire. But rookies spent all
their ammos wildly into the trees, so... ;)

I specified the A4 not the A1 to avoid such a counter argument.  Agreed on all other notes.  And yes, the M60 was an example of, " Well golly Lieutenant, them Jerry guns sure are swell.  Why don't we combine them to make us something even better?"

FG42 + MG42 = M60.

But they are also not used anymore in any great numbers by the US so why bring it up?

: M4A4 : True, started with the A2, I think? But, at least,
shows I know my guns and my history :) (*Flex*)

 : FG42+MG42=M60... er... ookah. Really?,  I guess :)
Can't say aye or may on this one. I'm tired :)
As for they're not used in US anymore, well, fine. But neither
are Garand... so why bring THOSE up? :)

I don't recall ever mentioning the Garand on this thread.  However the M60 line of medium machine guns is still used to some degree as vehicle mounted weapons.  But hell, why does this even matter?

It matters because we need something to fight over, since
we have no T34's or SVT40 or Moshin Nagan to fight win!!!
