These vehicles were used in the Polish and French champagnes as mobile anti aircraft but later as anti tank weapons. It was a Flak 88 mounted on a Daimler-Benz 18-ton semi-tracked carriers. In 1940 15 were built and there were plans for 112 more in 1941-2 but they were canceled because they realized a full-tracked, fully armored vehicle was a better idea. But it still would be a nice addition to the mod.

He didnt say that many were built, only 15. I could easily imagine that 15 could be slapped together by guys on the front line as opposed to built in factorys.

Why make a 88 attached to SdKfz.?
There is already a mobile 88, the Tiger I. Also, there could be the Nashorn, though I don't like that idea at all.

The idea with the horses or tractive unit don't really fit into CoH.
Just a few arguments against:
  • What happens when the vehicle gets destroyed or the horses get killed?
  • It's very unlikely the DEVs are able to do an animation for that. I don't want to doubt the leetness of the DEV-crew, but I think it's rather difficult if not impossible to create such an anim.
  • It just doesn't fit into EF, because EF wants to be an inofficial expansion. Therefore, it would be a bit odd when only the Ostheer has a basic ability like towing their guns to vehicles.

It was more then less used as a mobile anti aircraft weapon to protect the tank columns. And I would think that the 15 that were built were being used as a trail to see how they would perform.

1940: 30 SdKfz. 8 were equiped with Flak 18 8,8cm for 3 anti-tank-units.
1942: 15 SdKfz. 9 were qquiped with Flak 36 8,8cm for some anti-tank units at the western front.
But no of this half-tracks were used at the eastern front ;)

Just do it as they do in the eir and omg mod where you can just call in a truck that moves the 88. The truck can then move around and build it where you want.

But of course the truck has low low health and its a pretty long setup time (but still shorter then building it)

That would be good, after setting up the 88 you can use the truck for troop transport and as a munitions vehicle.

88mm flak 18 (sfl) on zugkraftwagen 12to (sdkfz 8 ) build in 1938 and 1939 10 -12 vehicles... tragets: bunkers
these vehicles are called bunkerflak... used first in czechoslovakia, poland and france to kill bunkers and artillery observation bunkers later for antitank... fired in driving direction + 5° on both sides...
