I didn't look into it closely, but first look (which I spent 10 mins on while dead-tired), made me think it's hardcoded. i.e. need to modify the game's executable. Meaning, don't expect it soon.

May 7th's still a good while away, right? Right?!?

I keep telling myself that because my all my Uni works due a few days later. Also my birthdays on the 6th and it'll be the 4th one in a row I've spent sober... never again!

Maybe I'm overly cynical, but that sounds like a company protecting its new game by killing off mods for its old game. I hope that's not the case.

My guess it has something todo with the limited amount of vars they can use per player (same as the cutback in amount of stats/leaderboards)

So I can install mods to the new CoH and play mods normally right?

At least EF doesn't work, dunno about others.

Hope you guys can get it sorted soon. Just got into EF myself recently and really liking it but will be difficult to convince friends to try it if it doesn't work with the new version.

It would be difficult if we wait until May 7th to fix it ;), because right now the regular CoH works fine.

That's up to Cope, however, we are waiting for Relic to fix their mess. They should know by this time what they did and if they don't fix it I think it is a clear message to us XD.

In other hand, remember it is just some sort of "beta", or at least that's what was they said, so by May 7th they have already fixed all the stuff that is broken and reported in the previous month.

Anyways, we need to wait a bit.

I dont think that Relic will turn their attention back to CoH1 in next 6 months. They will (or at least I will) focus on the new product and its 1st after release patches to make shure that players are happy.

Company of Heroes: Eastern Front
Hi guys,

Just wanted to announce that we have fixed the issue with the patch 2.700, so Eastern Front will remain playable in the new version that only works with Steam.

However, as it is a new version of CoH, we still need to fix once more the Strawman bug, which prevents Soviets to recrew.

We will continue working to finish the Beta and to make compatible EF with the latest patch from Relic.
