Hyall..


meanwhile I´m working on my next map called "Heimstadt"  (Hometown)
It will be a fictive 2player map  on East Prussian ground in late war...

I dont think it will be done before x-mas... but if so I`ll post it right here  ;D

A few suggestion to improve:

  • Usage of splats. At the moment, it seems that you rely on tiles and splines too much. Everything looks to clean for a CoH map, look at the town or the field in picture no. 1 - a Relic map wouldn't look this way.
  • Destruction. Everything looks too clean, as mentioned in suggestion no. 1 - you may say that this is caused by a lack of fighting and pre-destruction, however you can compensate for that by adding holes to walls caused by a car having crashed into it, just to give an example. Would also improve gameplay (flanking, etc.).
  • Grass. At the moment, I can only see one or two different grass types. The green areas on your maps would certainly be improved by a higher variety of grass.

What you can do to do better in general is having a look at vCoH maps and studying them (especially destruction, splat and grass placement). Would definitely increase of your maps being added to EF. Also consider deform splines for rivers or ditches. Much easier to deal with when it comes to heightmapping!

Did you create the designated loading screen with the NIS tool? Cool stuff!

but this map isnt "ready" at all! It is an overview and the state of progress actually....


@2.
Destruction wont be added since there was no fighting at all in this area before the Red Army arrives-
At this moment there only is a grounded plane and a parachute...



The "deform" tool needs more explanation to me (pm?) I never used it before...

And youre right when the loading screen was designed by NIS and got to be photoshoped (or something) later...

its me again..


after many changes in details and overall impression I decided to "move" my map from East-Prussia to Pommern (Pommerania).
Regarding the history this map will show a retreat battle in March, 1945..

Map is also renamed into 2p_Pommern and I hope to get it finished next days....

thx to Maxi_King for advice and refreshing comments on my first layout  :D

being suppressed by real-life, I wasnt able to finish the map in time...
So there is just another screenie from the outer edge, done with the NIS-tool of WB.






There are some minor problems to be done yet  (e.g. moving the OOB-Objects further away from the playable area,..)
and that just takes half an hour or so  -maybe tommorrow  :D

Its no prob to add more players to the map-
but to keep it fair youve got to rearrange the VP- and RES-points also..
