Far Eastern Front?
« on: May 12, 2012, 05:23:09 AM »
Hi, guys, it was on the news that the Company of Heroes 2 is coming out earlier next year with the Soviet already in the game.
So what are Eastern-front team's plans for modding that COH2? I just want to suggest that can you please consider mod far eastern front that feature China VS Japan. China has contributed a lot in WW2. If you consider to do so, let me know and I will support it anyway I can. I can probably sponsor a few hundred dollars to 2000 dollars a year depend on my financial situation.

Also, I was thinking, if the COH2 still has the doctrine choice for players as they did in COH. We can create 3 doctrines: Chinese Red Army, Chinese National Army and Chinese Patriot Warlords.  ;)

scratch that.
If you guys are still around at that time, I would suggesting and support your guys to create new Modern Combat mod. Because the current one is crap. You guys are way much better at creating new mods.

till now its not even sure that CoH2 will support mods at all
and relic and thq already confrmed that they want to use DLC´s for CoH2

tbh i dont think they will support mods
why would buy a "new tank" for 1-2$ if he got it for free in one of the mods?

nobody, right^^

Modern combat mod feel pretty good to me, some of it isn't complete and balance yet and I admit if I have to win I will play as Chinese Ground Force. But from the start it pretty balance already, at least better than Soviet 1.0 :P
I'm drunk now, I'm outranked you in philosophy.

qft. coh1 is already super hard to mod, coh 2 may even be unmoddable.

no way!!! You guys (I mean eastern front team) is THE best mod maker ever!!!!! You guys focus on playability but also not lose realism in most cases. That is why eastern front have been so successful. But modern combat team purely pursuit realism without considering the playability, in the end they got neither.

I have download it since I can play my home country in that mod, but so far I like eastern front better.......way better.
To be fair, I have too admire that they have some good and interesting ideas of the creation of unites.

But:

I remember why I bought COH years ago, it was because infantry has a chance in battle if you play your card right, which is more realistic that way, it is unlike any other strategy game, where if infantry meet tanks, they are dead without even have a chance. But MC mod took away that chance.
In MC, the infantries are useless, one accurate tank shell can kill a whole team. And as long as you have a machine gunner and a sniper, the enemy infantry will never break through since they are so easily suppressed in MC. And the only way to break the suppression is the Mortar smoke shell. This took away our choices. In EF, players have different tastes in different tactics, we fight differently with different weapon and tactics. But in MC, this choice has been taken away from us since we have no choice but to build Mortar team for counter-suppression purposes.

But Eastern Front is different, it embraced the idea of realistic infantry fighting. Even with weak AT weapon, the Soviet troopers still have a chance to make a difference in battle.

Secondly MC is so bugged up. I constantly gets all kind of trouble playing it.

Thirdly: Some unites are unnecessary. Such as the PHZ89 rocket artillery, it cost 40 ammo to fire 10 rounds, where type 81 and fire without cost.

Fourthly:  Chinese troops are speaking English, and when one of them captures a point, he says :"This territory is Uncle Sam's". ------------ What the..........??? ???

Fifthly: One of the doctrine for the US side is economy embargo. What???!!!!! This is COH, you are a company commander not the president. How can a company commander authorise economy embargo? This is a bit "neither fish nor fowl", is that the right expression?

Sixthly: Have you see ZTZ-96 tank they made? The model has a wrong size. It is too small to fit the reality.

I can list many issues in MC mod.
So, serious, I believe EF mod is the best mod I have ever played. And thanks to the team who have created for us.

Yes, but if you make modern combat, its DLC wouldn't apply in this case right?  ;) So, if they do allow mods, please consider it. Thanks.  :)

This made me lol quite a bit.

In any case, I don't think the dev team has any specific aspirations with CoH2. I know that personally I won't get involved in another mod and will continue to support EF until the day it dies.
If you get into an argument with me, you're wrong.

@Flanker1949: As much as I like and prefer EF to MC I think you are being dreadfully harsh against MC. I mean give it some slack. It's only been out for what, 6-7 months now? Do you not recall there was a EF 1.0 that was not exactly perfect. I never really found MC realistic. I think you are just using units wrong. And IIRC ppl were talking about the size of some EF models not being the right proportions too. So MC is not the only one plagued with these problems.

I tried to address some of those issues in their forum, but I can't get registered. Do you know why? Because their register form keep asking me "how many apply falls from the cherry tree?"  >:(  This is frustrating!!! How the heck should I know how many apply fall from their cherry tree??!!   >:(  What am I?? Their gardener??!

(LOL I am just trying to get everyone to have a laugh and relax,  I do suspect I didn't understand the concept of that question since I have a non-English background)  ;)

I'm guessing that's an anti-bot measure.

Yeah EF is the best mod, nobody can change it.
But MC was made by another group (Black Sand studio?), so it's their bussiness, EF devs don't have anything to do with it. All we can do is hope them keep balancing the MC, which still has a lot of abuse (which is sometimes I like that).
