I'm pretty sure you can limit the ages in Empire Earth, Rise of Nations, Empires: Dawn of the Modern World, Civilisation series etc. That way you can set it to only play Medieval times if you like.

Anyway, I strongly very strongly suggest Stronghold: Crusader. Will keep you addicted for awhile.
