man it hurts for you to lay it all out like that yauz, but now that you mention it, i think you're right. even the COH online stuff put on by relic failed. one might even go as far as to say that relic is dying. well, ill keep playing EF, and fish is right about the scheduled game stuff. if EF started having ritual tournaments, then im pretty sure we could revive this mod, at least for a while. i know pretty much 99% of COH players have heard of EF, and im willing to bet that at least 50% have it, even if they play vcoh instead.

EDIT: this mod is not dead, it may not be in its glory days, but its definitely not dead.  dead is-  no longer in use : obsolete, no longer producing or functioning, having the appearance of death. this mod is not dead yet.

Well at first i have to say that EF is still one of the most busy forums for coh mods. If our forum is already dying how will it be for other mods?

About plp leaving EF. Well the balance and gameplay of the soviets is not ready even after 2 years of development! We will change this with the next patch. Currently the soviet faction in the beta has already improved so much that its so lots of fun to play it. I think a good 1vs1 tourney  will lure plp in. Remember the last failed tourney. There were many high ranked players that wanted to take part.

I would avoid the word "dead" because even today there is a solid player base for coh version 1.0 and 1.7. They play on other servers and have much fun. Even if EF development has stopped, plp will still continue to play it. Me for my part play still very old games because they make fun.

And what yauz said about we moved back to vcoh. Of course we did because we donĀ“t have any fun with playing the current patch if we have access to the beta. Some of our friends dont have so we play vanilla with them. This will change with the next patch.

I was against to start this mentor programm now because it comes at a the wrong time.

indeed^^
we moved back to vCoH because all of our mates has no beta access.

another problem was/is that our last patch was good but in some parts the balance failed extremly
and if your familiar with the current beta you dont want to play the older version :D

but your right
we (the dev team) have to be more active.
that means we have to organisate in the future more tournaments (hopefull with high ranked players), we should ask one or two of the professional shoutcasters if they want to shoutcast our tournaments.

the mentor/mentee program should start  with the next big patch.

and we should start ostheer balance asap
the next patch alone will not lead into the big return to ef, but it is the beginning

i hope i havent missed something important^^

The key is the high level players.  Once there is a competitive community here, the noobs will follow.  The problem I always had with EF was that it was always too noob-oriented, with things like AI improvements, noob factions like the RMC, and noobshit maps like Leningrad and such.  Really, aside from the fact that it fucks up my skins, the AI just encourages compstompers, because it gives them a further excuse not to play with humans.  Maps like Leningrad also serve as an excuse to play on a noob map, while still playing on an EF map.  You can always attract noobs with a high level player base, but you cannot attract a competitive community with a noob player base, such as the one we have right now.

Noobs are good for making it seem like there are more actual games hosted than there really are, when they're hosting their compstomps / noob map & settings matches, but other than that, they're useless to have around.  There is no need to woo the sheep one by one.  Capture the shepherds, and the sheep will follow.

Problem is there are only so many of these high lvl players you suggest we bring in and have host games. And a majority of them are too preoccupied to do such things (balancing, RL is a bitch)

We would have to get players to preform better. Thus a mentor programs fills that role. Unfortunetly without mentors(no one besdies donthateme can do it so far) that area falls short of producing quality players. Latley I've just been playing EF Skrimish hard/expert como b/c its not even worth it to join a "noob stomp" game on say Zhythmor (excuse the spelling). And when I host a game sometimes ppl join but it rarley happens

Om Nom Nom Nom
"Panzer-Guppy ready for battle!"
"Ha Ha Ha! We have the ZEAL!"
"Grenadiers! Fall In!!"

but currently you are also the only mentee right? :D

i know sometimes its realy boring if you host a game and realy nobody will join.
we hope the better balance will improve this situation.

we also want to start a new 1vs1 tournament after the next patch

btw i will edit always the first post so all can see which mentor is free and which mentee still needs a mentor :D
so if there are still mentors and mentees please post ^^

But the community of EF can still try and keep this mod alive and active by hosting little things like mentor progrmas and tournaments and basic games(cause they're so fucking rare these days, yeah I cursed excuse me). Its these actions that will show ppl that this mod is still worth looking at and maybe pursuade them to join (although probably not that many ppl). Despite the dwindling crowd we can still try our best :D.

Thats the point... By saying "This mod is dead" its not getting better... EF is a great mod, and we should try keeping it popular. Anyways, please keep this thread clean of discussions and things like that... For imporovements or suggestions you can send me a PM.

I love this mod, and i think we need to get the newcomers up and running faster, as a lot of the time, they get into games where they get stomped on hard by players who use super Soviet Spam tactics. So i will help those who face the wrath of the red tide.

Why not advertise the mod at CoH forums? The more people that know the mod exist, the more will join. Also, it would help if the devs sent more infor on the progress of the mod, so that people will know it isn't dead. It happened to a mod i enjoyed playing, and now since no one knows what is going on, the support the mod had kind of died out.  :-\  So the devs need to make sure that the fan base doesn't die out.

We could try advertising at the COH forums :P Does it cost money? I wouldn't know tbh
