Battlefield 1943: operation citadel
« on: July 04, 2009, 02:27:49 AM »
Hi

I've founded a mod for bf 1943 for the eastern front, based around Stalingrad, Kursk and Berlin.

I need a modding team to help: come and sign up at bf43operationcitadel.freeforums.org

Basically, were stuck until it's released, but I'm making concept art for troops, weapons etc

when bad company 2 is released, I will adapt the mod to be a ww2 realism game. (that's right, an indie game)

No, he's not a mod. He's talking about the Modding team HE founded for the game 'Battlefield 1943'. I played it for a while on my 360... its pretty shit. Hopefully the PC version will be much better.

EA will probably add an Eastern Front theatre before any modding team could. They work fast since their employees are practically slaves.

You know I think ea won't bother with extra content- it's dlc only, so they'd be happy not to bother, same with an sdk

as for bc2, no sdk as yet, so the project is looking to crysis 2 or torque 3d.

The mod still exists on paper, but is just concepting ATM

I know, but there isn't a frostbite game with a confirmed sdk as yet, so battlefield is no use

crysis 2 on the other hand has the problem that it might not have 64 players, which is a must for this project

torque is a nice engine, but the license is $3000, and we'd have to do a lot of work to make an indie game

a fourth option was to base it on red orchestra 2 and implement destructible scenery. Problem is it won't be as fluid as frostbite or cryengine, though it has what we need

other game ideas were cod 6- no, too unrealistic, impossible first person animations Etc and very limited destructible scenery and bf2- no, too old

Can you suggest an engine or a game that supports 64 players, destructible scenery, decent graphics and does have a confirmed sdk? No... I didn't think you did...

Ok well we have a possible game: red orchestra 2, HOS

aiming to implement:

1. basic Destructible scenery
2. A realistic artillery and air support system
3. More realism effects (cold, surviving tank destruction, medics)
4. A persistent chapter campaign, so players are organised into companies based on their timezone, with realistic reinforcement and resupply features
5. Mapping most of Stalingrad, kursk and Berlin
6. An authentic eastern front experience based on extreme realism
7? Character creation
8. Buildable defences: trenches, foxholes, dugouts, mg nests and more

anyone interested PM me
