Soviet campaign could include such a mission where you arrive by train!

This is what I said some posts above.

Lemberg - Baraque de Fraiture - Smolensk - Heiligenbeil - Nobel Dynamite Works - Lorient - Poltawa

i think soviets used armored trains too if i remember right, though getting such things in game or anything multiturreted would be a long shot

Anyone that's ever played JointOps mod for Company of Heroes probably knows the level "Liberation", where you have to assault a town with something like 20 88s, shitload of mines, and about 450 pop worth of panthers and other crap with nothing more then a few rifles and a sherman or two.

Anyways, "reinforcements" arrive by railroad--a train pulls up and squads of infantry pop out. The train isnt its own entity, merely an animation put over a spawn thats right next to a railcar.

I think it would be easy to slap the map object over a unit, or even just create a new entity. You can also have it put on a fixed path and run it in a ring around the map or whatever, just put the tracks in later. This would make a great addition to a gamemode that involved the russians attacking X german outpost--the Soviet level "Ring of Steel" in Call of Duty: World at War comes to mind...

I can't wait till they add british to CoH:O; the extreme forces leveled by the new imbalances will create a black hole around the servers that destroys half of Canada.

Whenever I see trains in COH I always think of the drivable trains in Blitzkrieg.

I would love to see something similar in the EF mod.

I do like this idea very much, Its just implementing it may be a problem.

The Soviet Union used armoured trains to a great degree during World War 2 having them fill various roles such as Troop Transports, Anti-Tank rail road car, Anti-Aircraft rail road car, Command Centre etc...

There were also two types of trains Armoured and Unarmoured.

Armoured usually involved armour plating and a large portion of defensive weapons, AT, AA, HMG.

Unarmoured were usually used to transport Vehicles and Ammunition

The Germans and Polish also used trains during WW2.
They come for our blood but drown in their own!

Too big for a CoH map, the min range of it would be out of the map I guess to get realistic firing degrees.
