Hey guys, I'm prrretty much new here but I've been with the expansion since it first was released and seeing all the additions and changes over time has made me want to sign up and get involved.

I'm not sure about this nor was I able to find anything quickly but, I'm wondering about the Ostheer look and feel.

1) Will the Soviets have an English announcer with a Russian accent (which would be pretty neat)?

2) Is the Axis' announcer (English with German accent) to be used for Ostheer?

3) Will some of the Ostheer infantry units have coats and scarves (improvised winter clothing)?

4) What can be learned from the great mod 'Battle of the Bulge' in terms of winter warfare and artistic direction?

Just throwing these out there, may simply be empty hopes of an excited broad waiting for 1.5 but I'd like to see some discussion on these points and anything related.

Ok I'll do this quick

1) No, the Soviets will have a Russian speaker as their CO and announcer. This was a choice by the Devs and it will not be changed, if anything, we will provide new voices, but they will be in Russian.

2) The Ostheer announcer will be German speaking for the reason mentioned above.

3) From what we have seen, none of those units have improvised winter clothing,but this may change as development goes on

4) Dunno what to tell you here, by artistic direction do you mean all the snow and snow covered units? Well this is a vCoH-style expansion pack so we will use a similar artistic style to the vCoH factions. Winter Warfare isn't part of the regular CoH, so it won't be in anyway exemplified in this mod, I'm sure you have seen that some of the maps are snow covered while some are more Spring like in their nature

Alright, cool! I can dig the native tongued announcers, gives it a more separated and authentic experience compared to the western front.

I'm a tad disappointed by the lack of winter-specific models and textures but like neosdark pointed out, some maps are snow-covered, and this will suffice, I suppose. Who needs coats, mittens and scarves to protect you from the environments if you got the heat of a dozen rifles, right?

But I like how you say that winter warfare isn't a part of vCoH (obviously). But were the Soviets and Ostheer a part of it in the first place? No. They were not.
But then again, what do I know?

Well you seem to forget that the Ostfront battles occured during winter, spring, summer and fall, and we don't plan to create skins for every single type of map, cause that would be unnecesary and a bit of a waste of work when the devs are busy developing Ostheer and balancing the RMC and Svoiets

No, I did not forget. I studied history, haha. But that is why I suggested for 'some' models to have coats or such attributes. Just throwing it out there, y'know? But all is good.

Some units will have greatcoats and scarves ;) But it obviously won't be a faction-wide thing.

Sound: Use weapons sounds from Call of Duty 2 (for the russians).

The SVT40 sounds much more realistic and robust (and better), same for pretty much all of the weapons; Mosin, the sniper rifles, PPSH, PPs42 (PPs43 in CoH, same thing). It would honestly sound better then the arcadey stuff thats in now, which just sounds...silly, sorry to say it.

I believe that would mean that we would have to ask permission of Infinity Ward, Activision, Relic (if they will allow us to modify their existant files with Infinity Wards sounds), and that might be a problem because most game companies have a disdain for Activision, so they might not let that happen.
