Final version is out (1.7).

New beta is ready for testing.
17.08.2011
After the last games I have made, I declare the last Beta 1.3 as final version.
Karachev was occupied by the German Wehrmacht on 6 October 1941. The city was reconquered by the troops of the Bryansk Front the Red Army in the “Operation Oryol” on 15 August 1943. The city was completely destroyed during the fights.
Welcome to the
Open Beta
of Karachev. The map was designed for the Eastern-Front-Mod and I hope you and the developers like it. The map reached the beta stage and is now ready for the final balance testing. I played the map only against the ai right now, but it feels good at the moment.

Well looks very similar to your map kotelnikovo, which i liked (gameplay wise, layout was a bit boring). Will give it a try when i finally have my comp back

Thank you for your comments. I like rural maps, so I used this style again. It was very important for me, to make a very balanced map and no race has big advantages against the other.
Today I played some games against my mate to optimize the gameplay - but it is a long way. Here are some points that I will change in the next version:
The atmosphere properties - sunlight colour and intensity will not be so dark anymore.
Cover - I change the "green" cover to "yellow" cover between the two houses right hand side.
Retreat path in the north - units will not longer retreat only on red cover.
The full changelog will be posted in the next version.
btw: in the past I have made some other maps like
2v2 Martainville (big brother from Kotelnikovo same style like here)

played it. you have to turn the HQ in one base 90 degrees that it faces towards the map. Same issue on Kotelnikovo.
AI is acting weird on both maps

HQ will be moved in the next version
I delete my ai-markers and used the same like maxi in his map. Played some games against the ai and it was terrible for me
Seems ok now.
Will update the map this weekend.

Make sure to free some room around the strategical points and the HQ, I figured out that this is the best way to improve the AI on multiplayer maps.
The AI markers are just there to show the AI where the maps chokepoints ought to be so that their attention goes there.

Resources - one mp-point was changed into a munitions point 10, two munitions points 10 were decreased to 5.

Beta Update 1.2
Reduced the fuel point +16 lhs to fuel point +10.
New manpower point in the middle of the map.
Changed position of both HQ`s.
Beta Update 1.3
Replaced the +16 munitions point by fuel point +10.
Replaced the +10 fuel point rhs by munitions point +10.

After lots of games we decided the maps needs some minor changes. We have made an internal beta and now the map is ready for another open beta. Current version is 1.5.
The changes are:
Replaced the +10 fuel rhs with a +16 fuel.
We delete some hedgerows in the middle of the map to make it easier to attack with at guns.
Opened the gates at the fuel lhs a little bit more, to make it a harder to wire directly.
If you want to play the new beta instead of the actual version you should download the map and save the sga file here: Company of Heroes folder/Eastern_Front/Archives. Then you have to change the Eastern_Front Module File, which you can find in the Company of Heroes folder too. Insert and change the following lines:
archive.03 = Eastern_Front\Archives\2p_karachev_beta_1_5
//archive.03 = Eastern_Front\Archives\2p_karachev
By changing the "//" you can change between the different versions.

Are you sure you uploaded the correct 1.5 karachev? I downloaded it and it looks still like the old one.
