Ok Walki you were right about the EF module thing but now i have a weird, never ecountered before problem. When loading my map Eviction a small error pops up simply saying "Out of memory" it is pretty obvious what it means but HOW!? how can i run other games and things but not an unfinished map

Do you allow non-team-members to start map "WiP" threads? I have one that I would like feedback on as I work on it (I figure getting in-progress feedback is the only way I'll ever actually get a map finished ^^; ). It is intended to be EF compatible...

Yes, any user can show up his map progress in a new topic.

Awesome *thumbsup*

Now on to an ACTUAL question:

I'm having issues with determining the number of territories (and their type/yield). While Over-all map balance is fine at this point, a lot of my territories are much too large. The map I'm working on is a mid-sized 2-vs-2, divided in halves by a (flooded) river (I use an 18x18 'horizon' mesh - to give an idea of total size, not all of which is playable).

My Current layout is:
FUEL
2x 'Medium'
2x 'low' (The ones in the gameplay folder that aren't tagged as either medium or high)

MUNITIONS
2x 'High' (are also VPs)
6x 'Low'

MANPOWER
1x 'high' (Is also a VP)
2x 'Medium'
8x 'Low'

What is the best choice of "filler" territories? Should I add any more munitions/fuel territories?

~JD

PS: I using the 'working tittle' of "JDs_Bleak Valley (4p)" - inspired by the 'forest and trenches' map here: http://www.easternfront.org/forums/index.php?topic=6856.msg92067#msg92067 - Is there any historically accurate scenarios for such a map (Preferably late war or mid/late Autumn)? If so, any suggestions for a 'final' map name?

This map is a map i found online and played with my friend on CoH v1. after OF it stopped working,
but i have tried to make it work on EF, so that we can enjoy it again! Im adding the socalled v2,
that suddenly wont open in Worldbuilder, and also the v2.1 that wont work either. Anyone able to

Is there an error message?

Hi, sorry, i was waiting for an email that said someone had answered, but nothing came:P
Anyways; no.
The 2.1 version starts to load when i start it, and after 2 sec, the game closes (silently).
The v2 starts and is now playable, but have quite alot of things i would like to fix.
None of the versions will open in WorldBuilder, wich is kindof the most annoying... :(

Hyall,

before asking questions, ill try to answer one:

What is the best choice of "filler" territories? Should I add any more munitions/fuel territories?

~JD

I would use "paint  null territory" to smaller the sectors..

(overlay, draw overlay map, draw sector map, paint null)

Ive got some questions, too-

Q: how do I damage a building, by more than 10%?
can I set a value for "damage building" anywhere?!

Q:  My map description always sucks at 20 characters...
I tried to use the FAQ- it wont work :(

I edited the .info text in editor, saved it, started WB, extracted the file and then saved the map in WB...

Map description always fails! Text hasnt more then 255 chars... How do I do better?

regards

I would use "paint  null territory" to smaller the sectors..

Don't do this, it doesn't make sense. If you have map space to spare and you already used many fuel/munition points, use "mapower_ressource_points" to fill the empty space. You may also want to adjust the sectors size/shape. To do that, click on "Overlay" and select "Territory sectors". First of all, you won't see anything spectacular. Open the territory tool (TER in black on a button in the tool tab) and click on "Calculate voronoi" to the right of the screen. Given that you placed sector points before, your map will now fill with various coloured areas which you can edit, just use the TER tool.

I recommend just to use "paint null" on uncrossable areas such as underneath groves, deep water or comparable, not anywhere on the map, otherwise you will be unable to build something on that spot ingame.

Now I'll answer your questions, SSonne.

Q: how do I damage a building, by more than 10%?

Given you used "Edit state" > "Building damage", you can easily move and enlarge the area of damage by clicking on "Edit" in the "Edit state" window once you added "Building damage". Default damage scale is 5, you can experiment with other values if you like. Likewise, you are able to move the area of damage to where you like.
Here, I recommend not to use more than four different "Building damage" states, otherwise the area around the building becomes laggy.

Q:  My map description always sucks at 20 characters...

You can change that in two ways. Either use a key (like Relic did it with their maps and EF does it with its maps), or edit the info file after you finished your map completely and you won't open it anymore.
Every time the WB loads your map, including your .info file, the map description is limited to a certain number of characters. It just cuts everything that exceeds this certain value. Save your map description in another file and paste it into the .info file once your map is ready to be released. This way you guarantee the WB doesn't cut the text anymore.
Dealing with keys is more complicated, thus I won't mention how to do it here.

I hope I was able to help you.

Maxi, Head Mapper.

Hello Mappers,

I have a small question for you: Where can one find the overhead cables for tramlines?

Patiently awaiting assistance, CoHtaku.

I am not sure, but in my opinion there exist no overhead cables for trams.

Yes, the closest thing to cables are phone wires :P
