« on: July 13, 2011, 10:58:07 AM »
Have any of you played it ?
Is it worth buying it,i watched some game plays and they look awesome and the graphics are epic...But i don't know i am searching for an strategy game to buy and i feel like playing something different (i just play like 2-3 games atm)
I played a lot of strategy games, and i am searching something like COH and something from world war 2
And medieval times like Knights of Honor, medieval 2 total war etc..
If you have any suggestions that would be awesome  :)

The Total War Series is my favorite. The campaign/RTS battles split move is particularly appealing to me. I have not been able to Play the newer games in the series. I have 3kbs bandwidth for my home computer and ever since Sega jumped into bed with Steam I effectively have no access.
In this series I particularly like Rome Total war, its Mods and Add-ons, (ALexander in particular is a great starting point. Its available for $5-$9 US from Amazon or Walmarts. If you want a lesson in Roman Civics I suggest ROme Total Realism-Fate of Empires Mod. I had only started to investigate this one when I found EF so my total knowledge of this game is sketchy. Total War Series Games occupy me for 6 months to 2 years at a time. A great value even a $50 a hit for new games in the series. If you are unfamiliar with the Series Medeval II is a Great Starting place 17 or so Factions to play with and most of them unique in stye of play from each other.

Playing to get 45 territories can be tedious. Play the Short Campaigns or until you know your in a winning position. The reward victory movie isn't that great. Turn off the Assasin movies after you seen em. Useless wate of time.
BUT! Try it. You'll like it.

i got almost every total war game since rome, total war is the only game series i buy with CoH  :D rome and medieval II were great, but empire was a little disappointment for my opinion. napoleon fixed a lot of things that were shit in empire, like ridiculous ai. it's worth of buying ;)

If you want to play Empire Total War, then do the following: instal it, and afterwards download and install the Darth Mod Ultimate Commander edition. It turns ETW in an awesome game.

Re: RTW does anyone know if there is a Mod that focuses on the "Balkan" factions? IE Epirotes, Illyrians etc.

Total war Empires was good, Shogun 2 is one of the worst games ever made if u ask me for the amount of money and time put in it.

To me the biggest problem the Total War Series has had is the the factions are always basically clones of each other so there replability is limited to playing thru major campaign a few times.

@vonKlaus: I ususally wait to buy TW games until the price gets downto $20 or less at Walmart's mail order. It Doesn't take as long as you might think.

Granted that you get 5-6 clone factions the other 10 or so are generally varied. Rome and Medieval have a very nice selection of factions, IMO.

I own Medieval 2, Empire, and RTW. Rome is my personal favourite. There is much more faction diversity in Rome. I also modded it to have more factions, territories and units. Very fun. I also have a LOTR mod for M2TW which is awesome. The Dutch and Spanish in Empire are fun to play as but I don't really enjoy the ground combat. Sea empires are where it's at. I'd like British too I guess but Dutch and Spanish get Galleons and Fluyts - armed merchant ships equivalent to 2 decked Ship-of-the-Line buildable from the start of the game.
If you get into an argument with me, you're wrong.
