This leads to another thought/idea

Just like wehrmacht has officers, and brits. and it coho there was the terror officer

what about soviet propoganda officer aka a call in reward commissar for prop doct? you could use the icon then.

I know its outta left field so to speak but it could replace the underused trench?

Or a command squad armoury upgrade that would add a commissar to the Command squad giving some sort of aura bonus

@RedCommissar
I would make it a bit different (as a doctrine ability in Propaganda):
"Attach Commissars" - enables upgrade for any infantry squad (from barracks). Cost of the upgrade ~50 mun (per squad). Once researched, this particular upgraded squad can be reinforced with the commissar (he becomes part of the squad). As long, as he is there, the squad cannot retreat, but is unsuppressible (so it's a sword of two blades). Now, that's really hard to do, but I think, I might figure out just how. The easier thing is just to tie some "charge" ability to the commissar.

I thought a similar idea, but also those squads could regain their retreat after getting vet (don't know if vet 1 or 2). But that idea was shot down XD.

@Blackbishop
Was there any particular reason why the idea was rejected?
What were the objections?

You know, if it's all about the name ("Oh those Komissars have their hands covered in blood!" - which is absolutely untrue to those of them, who were deployed for the actual service in the army, and just untrue to 99 % of all the rest of 'em), you can change it to "Politruk" (=political leader) - these were never compromised by any atrocious or criminal doings.

I dont think thats the case, joe. we still have commissars leading the "penal" squads aka strafynie aka NKVD :-X theres no negative stigma associated with them. they were just political/idealogical officers that took the rank of the command retinue they were attached to

I think its very fitting to have a komissar as part of the command squad retinue as they usually were. although it was probaly rejected because imagine what a nightmare that would be to balance. well i take that back not if it was an upgrade

I still think commissar should be a propoganda doc call in, that acts like brit officer. could replace trenches or bunker!

True, at least for those in the army.
I still think commissar should be a propoganda doc call in, that acts like brit officer. could replace trenches or bunker!
I could make such a thing, as I suggested above. In a week or so. In fact, it would take me less than a day to do it - it's all about spare time though :)

I personally think its full of win. We could finally replace a useless doctrine ability that has no hopes of being made useful. But I'm not on the dev team so I have not the authority to order such an undertaking :(

http://wiki.reliccommunity.com/index.php?title=Command_Squad_%28Dark_Crusade%29 so it would basicly turn into this.
I don't see how in the world these two are in any aspect similar?!
Well, the paths of one's logic are a secret to another...
Unless, you can present some broader explanation to justify, what you've said above.
