Faustniki
« on: May 08, 2009, 06:14:36 PM »
In late 1943 and during 1944 the Soviets captured large quantities of german Panzerfausts. Other than the Germans, the Soviets often issued them to pioneer units, which used them for long range demolition work (for example against tank barriers that were covered by enemy fire or against bunkers).
So I think it would be a nice upgrade possibility for Soviet engineer squads.

What about a German WW2 Gewehr-Propagandagranate ( Propaganda rifle shot ). They used them in the eastern front, Maybe you can use that in one of your upgrades or something with a one time use only or a real long recharge time. It will have enemy soldiers run back to their HQ or at least half way back, or maybe stun them for a few secs.

Panzerfaust is too 'German' to be used. It would have been an option maybe if TOV hadn't brought us the wonderful/characterful AT rifle which we use.

Lend lease Bazooka was the other option...

All sides used captured equipment regularly. This was more so when those sides where winning because they would capture territory and all enemy equipment that were damaged or left behind.

It is notable that the germans used alot T34s and other equipment until 1943 while the Soviets used alot german equipment from 1943 onwards like Panthers/Stugs/Pz3s.

In particular they had even formed a specialist unit with 3-5 panther tanks which were regularly maintained and replaced. Panthers were highly prized by all tank crews and these were given as a 'reward' to very good tank crews. Tigers were far fewer and less likely to be captured in repairable condition. Also far less likely to find/scavenge spare parts for them to keep them running

Awww yes, we know our stuff  ;)

the USA and Brits have Panthers too ^_^
Lend-lease Bazookas were rarely used, because a soviet commission considered that it is dangerous for soviet soldiers what use it.

its true that all sides used each other's weapons, but the panzerfust cannot be considered in the same league; it was captured in such great numbers at berlin and copied in such numbers by the soviets (as the RPG-1) that it cannot be considered like the lend lease bazooka. So i think that a faustniki upgrade for either the guards or the appers would be a good idea.
