i played it alot, really fun.

Although i mainly went down the german tank destroyer tree getting myself the jagtiger. The most annoying russian tank was the t54 and the t44 so aim for them

1) 12th April official release with all tanks wiped.

2) It's free, you can download it here: http://game.worldoftanks.eu/
Of course, if you will want the best tanks (Maus, IS7, ect) you'll must pay with real cash.

Anyway, I play at WoT about January, and my team has played in the Ural Steel Tournament (we've arrived at 16th finals  8) )

April 12, 2011. I don't think it will cost anything to play, but you pay for Gold with real money in order to get 'special items' and the pre-order packages give you a better starting Tank.

I played for a few weeks, but I stopped when I heard there was going to be a wipe since I felt like I'd be wasting my time grinding away for better tanks. I use Soviet TD's mostly, SU-85B probably my most used TD since it has much better sight range than other TD's.

EDIT-

So wait, are Super-Heavies going to cost money when the game is released? That's bull. All the rich kids are going to be rolling around in indestructible death buckets while the rest of us proles have to grind grind grind grind grind just to get a crappy A20.

You've got to have Premium Account if you wanna play with the best tanks.

PA gives you +50% experience and credits every game.

Without PA you can play max with Tanks Tier VI without losing credits; over lvl. VI you have too money to pay and you can lose credits.

Premium account costs 2500 gold every month, 2500 gold = about 10€.

Of course you can play free but you will take mooooooore time to research and buy better tanks.
I've already decided I will play without PA.

Meh. I'm only at Lvl 5 TD currently since I stopped playing (SU-85)... was trying to grind my KV-1 in order to get the KV-1S but the thing is so frigging slow it's painful to play with... I like my tanks fast and deadly ;)

I probably won't pay for PA either. I might if I get into WoT quite a bit and hit the VI Tier tank limit, but if the developers stall and fail to add in extra content, i'll most likely get bored.

I might go back and grind about 700 games in order to get the Beta tester Easy 8... I've currently only got 300 games under my belt. Even if it means just rushing in, dead, quitting, next tank, rushing in, dead, quitting, next tank, etc, etc, etc. I doubt 700 games in 2 days even doing that would be possible though.

I agree, it will be the future of non-PA players like me.

WoT Devs wants to prolong this game about 5-7 years (LoL) and probably they will put new stuff like this:

http://wiki.worldoftanks.com/images/c/ca/American_Tank_Tree_Full.jpg
http://wiki.worldoftanks.com/images/b/b7/Soviet_Tank_Tree_Full.jpg

Personally I've played (let me look  ;D) 2708 games (oh, players with more 1k games during Closed Beta will receive a Premium tank gift http://overlord-wot.blogspot.com/2011/03/m4a2e4-preliminary-specifications.html) but I always against "Pay for play" games (like CoH:O, WoW, Navy Fields etc) so I will not spent 1€  ;D

And I have my doubts about the 5/7 years of this game. ;)

No, definitely not. If they want it to last 7 years then they better be up for making this game absolutely awesome in the next year or so. The battles can get boring, there needs to be some more tactical options and ways to mix it up. They should add in an more of the human element too, like Tank drivers, guys getting out the tanks to fix tracks and such. Even some AI controlled soldiers just randomly running around shooting things without really contributing anything to the battle would be a nice touch.

Realism? Like deflecting shots from tiger tank, and german superior cannons? One-shot killing T-34 with KT?

lolwut? Yes shots deflect, they can go right through as well and one shotting can happen sometimes when hit by Arty, but it's not all WW2 vehicles, there's a lot of pre-war, experimentals and a few Cold-War tanks in there as well. And if anything, the Soviet cannons are superior. The game is still balanced though, you join games depending on the calibre of your gun (not the tier of your tank), so with my SU-85B I would still be joining games against Tigers and IS tanks.

I've been playing it going down Soviet heavy tree aiming for the IS-3 or IS-7 but since the wipe is in < 3 days kinda pointless now

its really a boooring game after you realise how much time you'd have to put into it just to get to pilot a tank that was outdated by the time WWII started anyway

Yeah, the game can be pretty boring. As I said, there's so many things they could add into the game to make it less boring. Currently, it's like the movie 'Cars'... but with Tanks.

Not exactly, I don't know if it was explained correctly - you can play ANY tank you want even without payment. The problem is just that higher tiers 8-10 are quite expensive (in terms of credits -in game money) to repair and ressuply ammo. BUT you gain credits for your performance in battles, so if you are good you can have positive gain/loose credits ratio. I don't think that credits are problem in this game for any competent player. I f.e. had about 20mil. credits prior to hardwipe&release. Of course noobs wouldn't be able to pay the repair bills if their performance in game was shitty...

I wrote some summary here if you are interested to read something about this game.

And about new things in game, you can expect soon:
- brand new French tank tree
- clanwars which would be played on big map, where clans would seize territories and earn gold from that territories, so it will be something like strategy game
- some new maps

What I don't like on this game are players, too often there are brainless drones which act like lemmings. But in conclusion, in what game you can play Panther 2 or Maus? :)

... and that statement is now even more true..

Besides the glaring fact they do have mock armored cars in the game ms1 and the leichtractor t26 etc

Anyone here still play it? I have been in the beta for sometime now and it seems as though the devs are more focused on the superficial elements as their sponsored championships and even such window dressings as seen with the Christmas shit that came with that patch which they kept instated since late march before finally removing it!  ::)

Its not just that though, wacked out ballistics and completely flawed mechanics are the nail in the coffin for this game, ie shells being absorbed by mere wooden fences and 152 shells somehow bouncing off engine compartments on even mighty 'scouts' as they are called such as the a20.  :P
