Russian Tank Suggestion
« on: July 20, 2007, 07:54:54 PM »
Maybe you could add the SU-152 as the heavy tank for the russians, it'd be like... a modelled Pershing only smaller and bigger barrel.  :)

<--- SU-152
<--- M26 Pershing

Oh, realy?   :P
Su-152 must be limited, coz this thing OWNZ! Do dont even need to have AP ammo - if you hit, for example, PZ-4 turret with your 152 mm HE shell, the turret will stuck. And the help you only need in this situation are some angry tankhunters with RPG-43 AT-grenade. ;D

One tank that should be included is the BT-7 fast tank. They were cheap, fast and easily modifiable for different purposes in combat.

The SU-152 would have to be expensive, or only available as a support option or it would make battles turn very, very fast...

well we plan on having it under the tank doctrine. Also wasn't the BT-7 used mostly in the beginning of the war and phased out for the t-34?

keep up the awesome work you guys! :)

i was curious if you'd consider putting the t-34/85 in as an upgrade for the 34/76, and also, i saw this dragon 1/35 scale model of a t-34 with mattress springs mounted on its armor to cause German shells/rockets to detonate prematurely, pretty awesome: newbielink:http://www.hlj.com/product/DRA6266 [nonactive]

They were Bed Frames looted from Berliners by just one Tank Platoon, so it wouldn't make much sense to use this in any period earlier than the final battle of Berlin.

Since the IS2/IS2m where available in about the same quantities(actually more if you consider the Panthers were split between eastern/western front) as the Panther and was about the same tank class, would it not be great if you could build it as a standard tank? Not be a unique uber tank but rather the soviet equivalent that goes toe to toe with german heavy armour.
Stat-wise I was thinking something along the following lines. Hit points/armour/range/cost same as a panther, Mobility same as a Tiger1 and gun damage same as a Tiger 1 but more splash damage vs infantry

Super heavy unique units tend to become the focus of armies in COH and are either overpowered or underpowered. I personally don't think it fits with the WW2 soviet army and should remain a 'German thing'

In addition, I'm not sure if you already considered/working on this, but the SU series based on the T34 would be a great addition to the mod. If anything it would be very easy to model/animate Su122/Su85/Su100 very easily which could perhaps all fit into 1 doctrine(assault gun heavy)

By the way this is a great website about Soviet armour http://www.battlefield.ru/

Except IS-2 were (relatively speaking) mass produced, throughly combat tested and I think an IS-2 would beat an M26. Also if we were talking of that era it would be an IS-3 which would definetly beat the Pershing
