Royal commando trenches
« on: January 22, 2011, 04:00:19 PM »
I just played with the new British units and I'm crazy about most of the changes! However there is one thing that bugs me.. The sappers can't build trenches anymore, but when you drop in some royal commandos you can build trenches. If the ability to dig in should stay a possibility, it should be implemented in a different tech tree. I would suggest that the royal engineer should have this advantage. Like when you unlock the improved defenses, the sappers get the trench ability. This will allow players to pick a defensive style, just like you can dig in with the Russians with the propaganda tech tree.
Besides.. why dig in with the commandos..? the whole point of the gliders is to be a mobile force!
Or am I the only one who thinks this is a bit odd?  :P

It's an oversight to be fair  ::). We should have removed it....we will remove it next patch.
That way, if you want the trench building brits, you'll play vanila ones(which, like all other faction seem to be getting quite a few changes in the Relic beta patches).

Ahh too bad, I'm a trench noob :P Let's hope Relic steps in to save the day for the vanilla Brits. Trenches are not worth having lame infantry :D

We'll contemplate allowing the Royal engineers tree to allow for trenches to be built by engineers only....it would make sense...

Yeah, that has always bugged me; The defensive faction has no Tank Traps, yet the offensive faction (Panzer Elite) has the best Tank Traps in the game! (Doctrinal, but still...)

Take this for a challenge to improve your gameplay ;)
You have the 17pounder which is a really aggressive tanktrap ;D

True, but it's very expensive, and takes a long time to build. And also huge, so your placement choices are limited. And it almost always misses against light vehicles.

It would be great to use Tank Traps to funnel the tanks into its field of fire...

Well, now that Relic is fixing things and adding stuff, this should be said in their forum. I'll post it there later :).

How closely do you guys work with relic? Just curious, is all... I like developers who support the modders!

Ehmm.. I'm going to post it like a normal user. Afaik, Relic doesn't work with us, but from time to time Thunder drops to to say "hi" ;).

Yeah, i realize they don't work with you, but i think i read somewhere about relic helping out with the recrew bug, so i was just wondering about your relationship...

And why did you call me "Afaik"? That's not my name...

Who called you like that ;)?

They didn't help us on that. The last thing they did for the community was one of the last patches, don't remember if was 2.601 or an older one.
