Zis-3 76.2mm Field Artillery Gun
« on: December 30, 2010, 10:54:18 AM »
After looking at the 45mm gun post, I wonder if the Zis-3 has a place in the mod as a weaker anti-tank gun/ field artillery piece? I think it has a model, and is man-portable, Soviets would drag them up by hand to fire over open sights. It is a cool piece that embodies Soviet tactics, good when massed, direct, simple and destructive. I wonder what it could replace though, perhaps the heavy mortar or the At-gun?

Get a T-34/76.

Ideally, I think the Zis-3 would complement a T-34/76, as the artillery is could be made strong against AT-guns or fixed emplacements. I see your point though. You have a valid point, and I guess the Zis-3 is best implemented as a reward unit, but The Red Army seems missing something to me without the ubiquitous Zis-3 gun. Plus I just love the gun :)

The ZiS-3 model is(or will be) used to represent the upgrade at the armory for the ZiS-2.

:o
In terms of the prototypes it sounds really odd...
As if you would upgrade PTRD team to mortar squad.

It's not as odd as that (PTRD->Mortar), its more like Shreck->PTRD ::).

Unless I read wrong, the ZiS-3 will be just a skin change, to let the opponent know if the player purchased the upgrade.

@blackbishop: Cool, I had heard about it being the upgraded AT-gun but was skeptical of it. Regardless I will love seeing the model in action! I will just turn on a trainer and build eight and roll them around to see if they will gib a few unlucky Germans  :)
