PE sprint.
« on: September 24, 2010, 07:05:13 AM »
Most of you know it. PE infantry can sprint. The problem is you need all the upgrades that are not needed to get a Panther Battlegroup.
I allways wondered why do PGs need AT nades and advanced repair to run faster?

How about changing this ability so that PGs will have it after getting Group Zeal, Veteran Sgt and maybe Fieldcraft?

Yeah, I never got sprint cause I never buy all those stuff.

PE sprint ability was overstimated by relic. You need to invest your resources on all those upgrades to make them sprint. Not sorta heroic charge, it doesn't remove supression and it's expensive.

I dare to say that no one use sprint, because those groups of upgrades are kind of in the opposing direction of PE real needs.

I don't use very often field craft, but seems wiser to change it from 6 to 3. But IMHO it should be Group Zeal, Veteran Sgt and Inc Squads, in order to get panthers you will use upgrades from KK, PJK and PSK and for sprint LK, PJK, PSK.

Code: [Select]
LK -> Logistik Kompanie
KK -> Kampfgruppe Kompanie
PJK -> Panzer-Jaeger Kompanie
PSK -> Panzer-Support Kompanie
Mors Indecepta

Might controls everything, and without strength you cannot protect anything. Let alone yourself...

I'm guessing its to balance out the fact that you'll get your entire army sprinting. I mean...mp44/pshreck  blob sprinting around with panther support...could be a bit too much. I guess it gives you the option of either going for improved tanks or improved infantry

It doesn't break suppression so it's pretty useless.  Maybe if it broke suppression for a short period of time, it might be worth all those prerequisites, but atm, its pretty useless.

It doesn't break suppression but it does set received suppression = 0. So as long as you use it before you're suppressed, you can't be. I think you may also be able to fire on the move with PE sprint, which doesn't happen with fire-up but does happen with heroic charge.

It's certainly not a bad ability, and I use it all the time when I have all the upgrades. The problem is the immense teching costs. I agree with bishop and think the requirements should be 4 men, zeal and sergeants (T1-T3-T4).
If you get into an argument with me, you're wrong.

I remember once some Mouths ago I had 2 MGS ready for an Ambush, then some PGs come running up behind them. Thats the only time I saw it useful.

in long games (which PE should avoid, i know)
sprint is a gamebreaker
it moves a massive force around without any penaltys!!!
saved me many times vs airborne
or helped my shreks to hunt down wolverines...

It doesn't break suppression but it does set received suppression = 0.
Some time ago (a year or so) Ive read on cohstats/fractions that Sprint loweres recived suppresion by 1/2 (more resistant than Commandos). Allied MGs also have lower suppresion. Not sure if Im right about recived suppresion...

Anyways 4 man squads makes PGs much stronger (its even better than sprint) so it shouldnt be required.
As it has been said before Sprint can be a gamebraker so it should require some less imortant upgrades to get (like Fieldcraft). But not all of them.

I use the ability in 1 out of 50 games. I think it would be better if you didn't needed all the upgrades. However I through we only wanted to fix the major issues with the old factions like Roos starfs and pio spam. I think this a minor fix and if we start to make all the small changes that we want it might be hard to draw a line.
