[1.23] Alternatives to Panther Battlegroup

Would it be possible to have the choice (as a reward unit, perhaps) to replace the Panther Battlegroup with something more along the lines of panzer support rather than actual frontline tanks. At first I was thinking 3 Pazer IV's for roughly the same cost, but what about a battlegroup of 3 Wespe SPG's? The Panzer Elite are supposed to be the elite, implying better access to funky toys like the Funkwagen and Kettenkrad.

The Wespe also fits with the high mobility of all PE doctrines...

Would detract from SE. Plus, do you really want to get rid of the ONLY real tank PE has access to?

Fair enough, but that raises another point. Given the name "Panzer Elite", there aren't an awful lot of Panzers available. Which leads one to assume their tactics are either not suited to using heavy armour or are best used in combined arms with other players that do use tanks.

I think the Panther Battlegroup was included so that players were not totally hamstrung in single player games. In multiplayer games it's not always necessary to use them and in fact can get in the way of other players trying to coordinate a tank rush.

If PE artillery is to be limited to Scorched Earth only (which is fair imho), then perhaps the option of replacing 2 heavy howitzers with 3 light howitzers. More options means more creative strategy evolutions.

Wespe isnt a Panzer.

i have seen it in a mod so replacing the panther battle group would be possible.
BUT the replacement must fit into PE gameplay. so wespe doesn't make sense. like GodlikeDennis said, PE already has the hummel and strong arty is the key of SE doctrine.

Jagd[tiger] is a buildable replacement for the Kettenkrad... It can cloak and cap points. :P

You talkin' about 3 Whermacht's Panzer IV right?

Anyways, tha name "Panzer Elite" replace the real historical name, "SS Division", inapropriate for a videogame which should be apolitical.

Moreover, your idea to sobstitute PE Panther is not bad, but we must find a unit/s strong as a double unvetted Panther, and is not easy.
Double Panther is one of the best gamebreaker of CoH.

Panzer simply means armour, not tank. So technically, the halftracks and ACs of PE suit them fine.

You have it the wrong way around as well. Panther BG is rarely viable in 1v1s and is more suited to team games because of the cost-effectiveness of the callin once you tech to it. Your ally is free to spam anti-infantry things while you spam panthers to make breakthroughs and deal with enemy armour.
