I seriously doubt it's hard. This is a silly argument. Can we just get dragon or another programmer to just post here and end this?

if you look into the very beginning of the discussion blackbishop said that dragon had the idea before me and that it may be done.
No soldier ever won a war by dying for his country,
you win by making the other guys die for theirs.

Not in the way you might imagine... but something like that can happen... or not. The time will tell.
That's what I said earlier too...

Most likely you'll never see that, I stated that he had an idea about a Custom units not customizable units. By custom I meant a reward unit supported for the EF community, not related to EF Team at all, besides balance of course, to be implemented as official unit of EF something like the maps, All the EF player have the same default maps of EF you don't choose which map would be installed. It's just an idea that Dragon had, nothing similar with the system you are thinking is possible to be made or the Dawn of War ones.

But it's just an idea, there's nothing confirmed.

It would have to be x unit in x building , if it is possible , I still say no. It will likely ruin online by making your game 'incompatible'.

EF won't have the customizable unit system that DOW. Never.

@Akalonor
I never said the community will do the job, hence, unless you create your own unit, that couldn't apply.

I.E. You tell EF Team, I want to implement the Stürmtiger as replace unit to the Hummel, you could post pictures about it and the unit will be created, balanced and included to the game later by update. It's like a bonus program... details about it isn't discussed yet. That's what I meant.

But as users like Akalonor and GodlikeDennis said, that kind of ideas won't be implemented on EF. But you can do that on CoH:O, if you like you could try it(remeber the riflemen with bars, engineers with garands, etc.), it's open beta now...

CoH:O is exactly that , its Online , its connected to a server which updates it , That is my point. That is why it can have custom squads.

No, it's still peer to peer like CoH isn't it. And there's DoW being peer 2 peer as well. It's not impossible, you're just not thinking at it the right way. How about LOTR Battle for Middle Earth 2 with custom heroes, also a p2p game.

you have to sign in to EA to play online , thats why you cant just connect immediatly , its all connected by a server , hence reward units and BFME II's heroes
( Id be willing to play a game with anyone that has it , but I have edain mod atm)

Fixed for CoH. It's exactly the same. Log in via Relic Online server and host a p2p lobby.

But we're talking about mods , not a relic made generator. BFME 's CAH system isnt a mod , so its supported by EA.

There's no difference. If a mod were to implement a squad creation screen, you could play against any other person that had the same generator and could "read" you custom squad data.

Yes there is. Relic online is for CoH and reward units , mods work because everyone has the same game , MW2 can have costom loadouts cause it is supported by the server , this will NOT be supported by the server, reward units are supported , this will not be since its a part of a mod.
Skins work because only you see them, if you dont believe me than get a random skin mod and tell your ally to follow the green Panzer :P

Skins don't work because your opponent doesn't have the same data. Namely the skin.

If custom squads used data that every player has it would work fine. You could make a custom squad of 6 KCH with low health but 3 have LMG42s, it wouldn't matter. As long as you use game data that everyone has you can build a custom squad if an ingame creator were implemented. Anyway, I'm extremely bored of this conversation and won't continue it if you stubbornly write back again.

My point exactly , without a connected server this wont work easily.
