Nazi base at the South Pole
« on: August 29, 2010, 07:27:43 PM »
I read somewhere that the Nazis had a base in Antarctica, and it seems interesting. But I have some questions.

1. Is this true? Or is it just a bunch of lies?
2. If it was true, what were they doing there?
3. Why didn't the Allies try to stop it?
The Russians think there sooo tough, wait till the Ostheer comes...

Well from what i know there was an expedition by the Nazis to the North Pole. But I'm not really sure if they had a base there... Lord Rommel should know more. I know a lot more about the Nazi trips to Asia, more particularly into the Himmalayas.

The Nazis had alot of weather stations in the northpole/artic area. They used them to make weather predictions for the luftwaffe so they wouldent fly into a snowstorm or if they needed fuggy weather to sneak into a area they could plan for that and so on.

No. 1 Sorry for "reving this old topic, maybe it was like Project Nova in CoD:BO?

I'm not sure if the stuff there is real or not.

Search for "Neuschwabenland" ;) U will find your "german nordic bases".

But the most important point of this bases was already mention:
Weather forecast  ;) Important information for aerial and naval warfare!
May the force be with you.

No. There wasnt any german u-boat station at the Antarctica.
Neuschwabenland was a propaganda mission and a mission for installing just a weather forecast station.
Like i said: weather forecast was the most important key point of aerial and naval warfare.
U can plan long time naval operations or an aerial offensive when u dont have any long time information for this operations.
May the force be with you.

False.Sometimes the german passed in the North Pole with their U-Boats, simply because they received those territories by Denmark in 1940
