The way we would set it up would be as a best of 3 match. 1 game Soviets, 1 game wehr/PE and the person with the most VPs left after these 2 games decides their faction for the third, if it goes to a decider.
If you get into an argument with me, you're wrong.

Well I know who my partner would be ;)

Problem is we can't connect, so we're working on port setup, it'd be nice if we had some help  ::)

Anywho, I think it should be 1st game Team 1 Soviets, Team 2 Axis. 2nd game Team 1 Axis, Team 2 Soviets. If 3rd game, Team with best score at the end of both rounds chooses.

That's exactly what I said. Of the first two games, you play both sides and the team with the most VPs left out of the two previous games chooses their faction/map for the third.

What particular trouble are you having with port forwarding? You should be able to find you router's control panel by typing into the internet address bar your router's IP address. Then you can go into firewall/security options and there should be an option for port bypass NAPT or address translation. From there it should be fairly easy to add the ports as they appear. If the ports don't stay open when you restart your computer, you may have to set up a static IP address (google this) if you can't be bothered changing them all the time.

This site should contain most of the information you need:
http://portforward.com/

Here is a useful program that checks to see if your port forwarding was successful:
http://portforward.com/help/portcheck.htm

Alternatively, you can just do a NAT bypass which opens all ports and redirects all internet traffic to your machine (it's particular network address). So it's best to not have anyone else on the network who is short of temper and has a good throwing arm.

I'm fairly computer literate but if you have further questions it may be best to ask in tech support.

I did. I followed instructions and I got stuck at "Now punch in your Static IP address into your browser" because when I do exactly that, nothing happens like it is supposed to.

We'll complete this conversation in the topic you started.

Anyone else who has NAT/port forwarding issues, go to this thread:

Is there a particular time that everyone would prefer over in Europe and America? Australia is quite out of the way in regards to timing.

A) Not everyone uses forum time, they may set it to local time.

B) That's not what I asked. I was trying to find out what would be a good time to host the tournament that a wide range of people would be available for. Such as Sunday 19:00 CET which was when the last tourney was on. I got up at 5am Monday morning to play that one. Would Saturday 7:00pm CET/GMT be good for everyone here? That's Saturday arvo for Americans, Saturday evening for Western Europeans and quite late Saturday night for Eastern Europeans. It is really early Sunday morning for East Asians and about 5am for East coast Australians. NZ would be 7am. I'm not sure how daylight savings may affect the start time in your country either, so take that into account.

Remember that this is the START time and the tourney is likely to go for quite a few hours assuming you get through the rounds. The final of the last tourney was played about 7-8 hours after start time. Although there will be less teams in this one, 2v2s tend to run longer than 1v1s. Also remember though, that this is only a tournament for fun. So there's nothing wrong with pulling out halfway through to get some sleep after a good, fun few games.

I will put up the bracket before the start time if anyone wants to arrange to play their first round early. This would be a good way to make other plans if your tourney dream gets cut quickly.

Even if you are knocked out, feel free to arrange some games with others who are knocked out so you can get quite a lot of games in. I may even set up a losers bracket so you know who to play against.

Dennis i just had an idea, Since this would be a more relaxed tourney, why not go for the swiss format, kinda like BuckyBoy did in the egletons tournament on GR. That should give lower level teams more matches.

What's that? A round robin format?

If so that's not a bad idea. I'd still like to see an epic final take place though, so the two highest scoring teams will face off.

Also, I was thinking 7pm GMT/9pm CET Saturday 11th September as the start time. Please note that's Sunday morning for my fellow Eastern Hemishperers :). *Please also remember to take a moment to remember those lost to cowardly terror attacks on this day.

Is everyone happy with this?

Might be able to make it, no guarantees, and someone needs to host the game on the other side...What about you Seeme?
