Precision Artillery (Sharpshootherteam)
« on: August 11, 2010, 02:57:35 PM »
The word is that "Precision Artillery".

To my mind it's not really precise. It's like a British-Lieutenant artillery, the first strike is precise, but then follow lots of inaccurate strikes and they smash anywhere around the essence target.

I suggest to slash prices to about 75-100, and to modify the artillery so much that only one or two bombs will be fired and this strikes smash the target, but 100% accurately.

What do you think?
I mean it's called "Precision Artillery".

Good point...it could be tweaked a little.

I don't know guys, i like it when its not too precise because it can hit moving targets that way. When there is a larger spread of shells we have a bigger saturation of explosion, thus a higher chance to hit the target multiple times. Plus most people retreat their units when they see the arty smoke, which makes it a bonus to have a larger spread and a bigger chance to hit him, and if they don't notice then the spread will make it really hard to retreat them, because that risks even more loses.

The possibility of Precision Artillery didn't really exist until now because of all the factors that affect a shell when its in the air. Precision of WW2 is exactly what we see with the Precision Artillery so i think it should stay the way it is

So don't let us start to talk about realism in this game.

I wasn't implying anything about a realism talk, i just think that it is a good representation of WW2 artillery and should stay as is because it gets the job done.

Well perhaps its cost could be lowered a lil bit at least...

As it is now it is as normal artillery strike in CoH. But this artillery strike is called "Precision Artillery". So it has to be only one or two precise strikes.

I've just renamed it into "Call In Artillery Strike" in Russian version ^__^'

In ww2 there was no precision artillery the same way you perceive it nowadays...those lazer guided surgical strikes sort to speak. No highly accurate maps with accurate coordinates

if it landed with 150m of the target, that was pinpoint precision by those standards...
They would fire 1-3 shells to range in(get roughly within 150m and then pound the area with hundreds of shell hoping one will hit where intended

In short accurate shelling as you dexrie it is not ww2 like at all and would not feel like COH  ;)

I think the ability is too powerful anyway, the first shell is devastating. It should be replaced by commando arty, which fires 4 extremely precise shells. A cost reduction would have to go with this change as well.
If you get into an argument with me, you're wrong.
