Volksturm

We need these guys, especially if there is a Berlin map. Make them weak and have cheap 15mun panzerfaust that only hit 40% of the time? That sounds about right.

Ok, how about 12yr old Werewolf soldiers with panzerfausts attached to their bikes as well?/sarcasm

Fighting a bunch of old guys and teenagers isn't very fun, is it?

we want volkstrum! it shuld be an offmap abillity and it will storm like a hughe amount of badish volksgrenadiers, or volksgrenadiers look alike/ wannabe. and meybe an officer. i saw in a movie that the volkstrum ran straight infront of teh german machineguns when trying to attack the russians so they got killed by friendly fire... so much you get for bad training.

Well maybe it happened to some poor sucker a couple of times, more like an accident i dont know i wasnt there.
But the impression allmihty got from the movie, I would say is wrong. Probably another hollywood movie (damn i hate them). Most mgs would have tracers, so you would see the shots fired.

I suggest watching a russian or german movie about ww2, they are much more realisticly depicted, and accurate.

Um..the volksgrenadiers were close to the volksturm..only difference is the volksturm were just ordinary citizens pulled out of their homes and givin a rifle, where the grenadiers had very basic training like how to handle a rifle. I don't think there would be a great need for them.

Ditto, at best these should only be used specifically for a battle of berlin campaign mission.

There's so much that went on the eastern front itself without even going to that battle, too, where the german army was pretty much broken already since a long while. That battle was more the agony of the third Reich more than anything else, since there was little the german army could do anymore.

Also, the "true" volksgrenadier weren't civilian conscripts but rather members of other branches of the army whose division/squad or such had been destroyed or disbanded, and were then later regrouped into the so-called "volksgrenadier" battalion, where you could then see a downed luftwaffe pilot fight with a rifle right next to a tank driver who lost his tank but is now hauling around some panzerfausts that he was given.

Which, in general probably show the place the valksgrenadier would have in an eastern german army considering the amount of troops that were relegated to such squads due to the high turnover rate of the germans back then. Probably, I'd see them well as a call-in for a "desperate defense phase" doctrine based on the period of the russian counter offensive that started pushing back the germans or the battle of stalingrad. Their abilities wouldn't be that great, but they could haul over panzerfausts and make barricade out of debris(basically, a sand-bag-like line of debris that could act as both cover and impromptu tank trap(albeit ones still crushable by heavy tanks).

sounds good, u shuld give then a real odd compination of uniforms so u get the impression that they are from diffrent branches. i read a book that a guy who fought for the germans wrote about his military service, he was in a panzerbattalion but they only had a tank the first 2 chapters after then they were running around ass infantery allong with some luftwaffe, pioners adn sanitetstruppen.

Well... that's pretty much it. Look at Battle of the Bulge mod's Volksgrenadier for an even better picture.
