What's the 10th mountain division? The US mountain troops or something?

Yes, they both pretty much the exact same thing (I'm sure people can argue the crap out of this though) 10th mountain is a US mountain force and of course the Gebirgsjager is a German force.

Well...a bit strange or?
U want that we discuss without starting about
a single division in comparison with an hole german
arm ( Waffengattung )?
What should we discuss?
The color ot the uniforms?
Battletraining? Real battles?
Why US 10th mount. Div. and
not red army mountain troops or
italian mountain troops?

Sorry man. This is a bit too general xD
I cant see any sense in such a discussion ;)
May the force be with you.

I was thinking more of a hypothetical combat scenario. Who would come out on top? Both units fought in Italy yet they never fought each other. I'm mostly curious on who people think would win. I had an argument with a german friend of mine on the same subject. I wonder what others think in a hypothetical situation involving two of the most trained mountain warfare units in history!

Well...both units xDD
Which units?
10th moun. div was just ONE us div.
And the german Gebirgsjäger had
around 12 Gebirgsjäger-Divisions and
a number of "Jäger-Divisions" ( light
mountain troops ).

And in a "hypothetical situation" everything could
happen. Too much variables for such a scenario...
May the force be with you.

Hmmmm..... You always learn something new. I always thought the Gebirgsjäger was a division sized unit, I didn't know it was more like a corps. Good info, THANKS!

Both Germany and the USA have excellent training grounds (Mountain ranges) for the troops to practice and train. This would be a hard one.
I would assume whoever has the most support or the high ground would win.
