USB Eastern Front mod can't find COH directory
« on: June 06, 2010, 02:46:35 PM »
I copied my entire COH folder (steam version) with the EF 1.11 mod into my USB and play in internet cafe (namely Everywhere internet) as my original laptop is too bad for running it. The original COH game run perfectly well.

Now the problem is every time when I try to open EF it just show a window "unable to find the COH directory". I tried to change the directory path into my USB's COH folder but every time when I recheck the setting, the "COH directory" section become empty. I simply can't open the game. What should I do?

Sorry for the poor English

Right click your Shortcut to RelicCoH.exe (Company of Heroes) and at the end add "-dev -mod Eastern_Front" (without ")

Here you go "dumbing down". I hope everything is readable.

I've purchased my copy of CoH from Steam, it looks like this when I open the properties,

My copy isn't on a USB drive either, but I still get the same error message.

Do you have that directory in EF settings->path? Could you take a look? Also check that Eastern Front files are in the same place that CoH.

You're showing me the Properties of the .exe file itself... Right click on it, select "Create Shortcut" - a file "reliccoh - shortcut" will appear. The open it's properties and do what Rizz suggested above.

Do you installed different versions of CoH in the same windows sesion(Steam/D2D/Retail)?

Which value has this path on regedit?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\THQ\Company of Heroes

or if you have 64bits OS?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\THQ\Company of Heroes

Do you installed a retail version and without uninstalling it, time later do you download the steam version or just download the steam version?

I had a retail version, then it got banned...i downloaded it too many times to different PC's i used,
PS, my tales of valor works though.

then i downloaded EF and had fun,

then i used steam to download OF and that's when trouble started.

If you can give me help, BTW I'm not computer savy
then a step by step guide would make all the difference in the world,

If you have those versions installed at the same "time", you won't be able to run EF properly. You should choose one version to keep.

With "have both version installed" I tried to say if you have one CoH at //Program Files/THQ/Company of Heroes and the other on steamapps, you can be sure it's a problem.

You need to uninstall both and reinstall one of them, I recomend to backup the steam copy and deploy it later because:

1) Retail version needs to be installed and patched again and steam backup is ready to play after restoring your copy.

2) If you have no internet connection due to issues, in both cases you will need the DVD.

3) Just install the Retail version if you have the file patches(offline update).

Cheers
