thing is, they only released TOV last ytear they cant just pull the server anytime soon.

i can go to a store tomorrow and buy up many copies of TOV that specifically state multiplayer games on the box and instructions.

when do we start the class action lawsuit?

what really p1ssed me off was that they did a beta, make loads of changes, and then FORGOT that the things they changed were even a problem and basically ignored them (see examples of attempts to thwart bunker spam/mg42 combos) and then simply opted out when it came to the real patch.

similarly, the last patch came out, they told us the PAK was a bug not a balance move to completely neuter US light vehicles from the game almost.

So maybe we can add that to the lawsuit, KNOWN unfixed bugs in the software?

i think OP and everyone who agrees w/ him is being unrealistically negative about the situation. it would be a stupid, unfruitful move to shut down the servers. even if something like that were to happen, the fans always come through. on a somewhat related note, i remember when SegaNET shut down after the Dreamcast started to fade away - there are fan servers still operating in Europe after all these years.

hi, i hope not because coh is the only pc game i play! i built my whole rig just for this game and bulgakov bought a notebook with decent gfx etc just for coh too. a lot of money invested into hardware.

id go as far as to say id offer to pay $10 a year to relic for membership for them to keep the coh server open.

but yea downloaded the install of EF, going to install tomorrow and give it a viewing - i take it i can do a skirmish orsomething to get used to the factions before i go online and get my ass kicked.

Perhaps its being looked on the wrong way. I agree that this is the best game I have ever played. But I remember saying the same about spyro and crash bandicoot. The point is that its great when they're new and popular but eventually it ends. On the flip side, theres always the latest and greatest game right around the corner! My only hope is that when eventually they get around to CoH 2 they don't do to CoH what they did to DoW.
So long as they don't do that, I'm good.

That aside, this mod is awesome, and I'm sure that it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Bad example. Don't you remember? All the Crash and Spyro games made AFTER the glory days sucked hard!

Your example made me feel even MORE pessimistic about the future of COH. Thanks.

yes the new spyro is terrible. the old ones were terrific , the same happened to 3DO (aka the makers of the 'Army Men' games) they had some of the best games and then they just crashed -.-

The developers of the original Spyro and Crash series on PS1 have gone on to become some of the most celebrated teams of all three PlayStation generations. Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance and of course, Uncharted are hardly franchises created by developers who have 'crashed'.

The new Spyro and Crash games you are talking about are by different dev teams who fancied cashing in on the games' acclaim.

In case of confusion, I was refering to the much better oldies. I agree that the new ones just stain the record of a series of awsome games. As long as the developers move on and make even better games I wont complain (too much).

@Warty , when I said 'Crashed' it was about 3DO , they sold their company to some other buisness , I'm unsure if the Developers are still making games.

Yep, Duke Nukem: Fornever was offically scrapped mid-late 2009 (wtf it was actually being made?!?)  All of the "work" they've been "doing" for 13 years is now gone.
