KV1 as a reward unit
« on: March 02, 2010, 10:25:35 PM »
Hey guys

I reckon that the KV1 is a great candidate for a reward unit to replace another soviet tank. I believe that It can be chosen to replace a T34. The only difference between the tanks would be that the KV1 would have less speed that the T34 and therefore more armor which being more health. Also the 85mm upgrade in the armory can still apply towards the KV1 as it can be upgraded to the KV85 for an upgraded gun. In both variants of the KV1 and KV85 it should have the same fire power as the respective T34 model as they both had the same gun in each models.

Cheers.

Why is necessary to replace something ?

Russians have a big gap between T-34 and IS-2.
Also they have few units compared with other factions.

They are called reward units. They were added in tales of valor to add more variety due to the lack of adding new armies in the expansion and there has been talk for reward units in eastern front so I am posting up ideas for the dev's. Please read my post next time.

T-34->KV-1 is a nice idea.
How about KV-2->KV-8 flamethrower tank?

Only 45mm gun (like a T-70). Churchill Croc is used very rerelly so it will be quite original.

perhaps but I'm thinking of a reward unit to replace the T34. The only difference between the tanks are speed and health. A flame thrower tank seems too distant.

The only difference between the tanks are speed and health.
Changing price (~400MP/100fuel) and armor type (sherman->churchill) is important to.

Soviets would still have T-34 call-ins so the Soviet main tank would not disapear after swapping.

Nice Idea. :)

Both of these ideas sound very nice to me.
KV-8 looks really interesting to me ;)

to be honest i was hoping for KV1s instead of the ISU-85s, but hey, couldn't we have KV1 replace ISU-85s instead of T34s?

T34s are staple units in the Russian army.

also i would rather have seen KV1s instead of KV2s.

KV1 shouldnt replace T34

T34 is the main soviet medium tank for the WW2 period, it would be strange to replace it by a KV1, which is a heavy tank used and produced until 1943.

Also i think it would be a nice idea to replace the IS2 by KV1:

KV1 would represent, with the T34/76, the soviet armor force of 1941/1942 period , and would be upgradable to KV85 and, next IS2 (like T34/76 --> T34/85 ).

Just for clarification what versed is saying is that they are reward units that can be swapped at your own discretion like in COH TOV. Example, Hotchkiss instead of P4, hellcat instead of m10 etc...

I've read your post before posting. I'm not an idiot, thanks.

I mean that it will be strange when a guy can spam KV1 instead of T34....

Logically, you cant replace a medium tank with a heavy tank, even as a reward unit.

KV1 has the same gun as a T34, so logically you sacrifice mobility for more armour while keeping the same gun. So in game/balance terms if it were to be a reward unit it would replace the T34/76

However that would come with its own problems as the T34 is meant to be upgraded to a T34/85. In turn that menas we'd have to make a second tank KV85...2 tanks for 1 reward unit...ahem...a bit much

Well there would probably be like 10 fuel and 100 mp tacked on?

Ok. So maybe you could insert KV85 as a call in unit for t34 tank riders? Even if he would cost more exp points.

Best regards.
