Question/praise about the unit voice work
« on: February 23, 2010, 10:03:48 PM »
I'm loving the mod and I had to register to ask.. where did the unit's voices come from? Were they recorded custom for the mod? If so, that's an A+ job. It's sounds just as professional as the American/German ones. =D

No, they're from the Russian versin of CoH, and has some flaws. Like T-34's think they're Shermans and sat, "Sherman pahzeetsu."

Ah. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Sweet mod all the same!

Edit: actually, i have another question.  So are the voices from the american side in the russian CoD? Also, if that's that case, to a native Russian speaker would it sound like russian but in an american accent?

The voices are from both the American and British factions of the Russian version of Company of Heroes. Relic gave us permission to distribute them with the mod. Our Russian translator assures us that the voices are spoken without Western accents. We have been discussing a solution to removing the references to the Allied units.

There's a little roughness to the voices, as if they're trying to imitate an American style of speaking - so it sounds a little weird (at least to me).

Won't happen. We have been a free marketing ploy for Relic, but to Cold War Crisis we are just a mod for another game.

I am sure that if you would ask nicely they won't mind... not everything must be in terms of Copyrights... especially in the modding community.

anyway, just trying to say that it wont hurt asking
