I don't know if it's Relic's server issue or not, but neither myself or two friends have been able to get EF launched. It gives us a verification problem. I started Tales of Valor and it can get into the game to play fine, but EF won't do that.

Just played, dont think I am a fan of it as it further nerfs early game Soviet, until you get supply mines are only armor defense.

Hi guys thanks for the patch so fast the support for this mod is great one thing i noticed is the 2v2 map zhytomyr is missing from my map select list is anyone else noticing this or am i the only one ???

After patching to 1.04 and playing through today, I've noticed a fair amount of difference, and some new bugs.

Here is my mixed bag of feedback:

-The defense ratings of the tanks are largely mediocre. Light tanks are fine, but medium and heavy are weak compared to their Axis counterparts, same with their firepower. The reduction in resource costs however is an absolute positive. Now they are more producable. Excellent timing! With a bit of armor and firepower tweaking, they will be well-rounded. Then, they'll just need spelling/grammar checks. =)

-Red Banner Strelky upgrade system fully works. SMG upgrade displays improved damage output and sprint ability works! LMG displays improved damage output and Stand Your Ground! ability works! I must admit, the LMG damage is very poor. Aside from the ability, the upgrade is not highly useful. Prehaps the LMG can be revised to work like the Britsh Infantry Section's Bren Machinegun Upgrade? (And the sound, argghh it's awful) I honestly feel like sticking with the more reliable SMG (And it's the Partisan's SMG!!! Excellent audio, keep it). I feel the upgrade descriptions should mention the added abilities, so players can see how worthwhile either will be. Aside from that, Red Banner Strelky's can now  close the gap in infantry battles during mid/late game. Well done!

-Sharpshooters now have thier artillery spotting upgrade, and it works! Good to have it back. And you've balanced their recruitment time with Werchmat/American Snipers. They still have a 110 Manpower cost to reinforce. Too high. Makes me want to save manpower for other squads.....

-Gaurds don't show any damage improvement when upgraded to Shock Gaurds. Aside from being able to surpress infantry, there don't seem that much better.

-I noticed you removed the Tank Rider T-34's ability to capture points when garrisioned. That kinda defeats its purpose. Plus, the description in ability tree/panel says it can capture points when garrsioned!

-Those bugged maps are fixed! Happy fun time blowing up Axis on those maps!

-Still no clue how many conscripts/NVDK conscripts present in squads or total number.

-Not One Step Back! in Urban Combat abiliy tree still uses Terro Doctrine picture and description in panel.

-Discipline ability on NVDK conscripts does not execute a squad member. NDVK conscript squads are also more fragile than normal conscripts. Should be vice versa (NVDK more damage resistant versus conscripts).

-Strelky squad description in Mustering Barracks still short and boring!

-Tankhunters are way too fragile!

-"Inspired Speech" ability in Breakthrough tree uses Blitzkrieg tactics description.

Anyway, there we go. Grats on 1.04. Lots of stuff to still be done! Already waitng on 1.05. =)

Starwolf please take into account the mod was released not even 2 weeks ago and already 4 patchs have been released, and only 2 of them have been main updates, 1 was a pure fix, 1 was a fix with a few fixed bugs.

That said, 1.04 is more of a fix then a main update, ;).

- Changed armour type of flag bearers to "heroic".
- SU-100 armour type changed to "churchill"
- T-34/85 rotation speed changed to 38. Armour type changed to "churchill"
- ZiS-2 crew + Mortar crew- armour hanged to "airborne"
- Sharpshooter team build time increased to 50 seconds, Spotter armour type changed to "heroic"


You tell me what's going on with the armor?
Propably the next game of relic will be pong, but i'm not sure if they would be able to balance the sides.

He didn't criticise the patch and i think he has done a good job spotting the bugs thus helping the modders .
I've loved this patch since the beginning . thx for the support.

Yeah I know I was just letting him know everything he said has been seen and since they've done 4 patchs in the first 2 weeks it's quite easy to see they'll be fixed in due time..

Always AI have double strength than me,and overwhelm me always with large forces.
In all maps,from small to large,1v1,2v2,reading the final score,computer always have double manpower.In the early period when i can barely afford few units,computer send waves of soldiers.

In the last game 2v2,playing with russians and having allied also russians,i was amazed about the large allied army.It was three time than me,from the early,till the medium/late period of the game,when i finally manage to bring some tanks and increase number of infantry.Where i struggle to get some resource,AI have and spend/waste ALLOT far more for units and upgrades.It seems don't even have problem at this point.Where we share the same number of resource,the balance of force is far unbalanced...

I like overall balance of the last patch,but not about what i told

...it is absurd....is something wrong there...

Maybe dont play on Hard? The AI always cheats and on Hard it seems to have 2 times manpower income. So especially against a soviet hard ai its fucking complicated to win!

I made many battle with easy,medium and hard difficulty.

This patch it seems to be ok with that exception.Manpower is a pain for russians.They loose allot of units in short time,and are unable to recruit another enough fast,to hold the line,or even to push the enemy back.Manpower grow damn slow,when the units die so fast against armored cars,MG,mortars...in early period...and from other reasons late...

I can't even afford to buy mortars and AT cannons...just  few(2 or 3),and that very very hard,because i am forced to spend many resources for infantry,to be able to hold the line... and if i loose this few pieces,chance for victory will fall toward zero...slow but sure...
Victory is gained now with ALLOT of luck on normal difficulty,and strategy and tactics are waste of time.Some good maneuvers  for killing some units,is a waste of time,because in short time will come another,and another wave,stronger,and much stronger...is a madness...

To win against hard AI it seems to be impossible with russians.
If someone manage to do that,i am curious to see replay.
To beat expert computer in 1v1...is a stupidity just to think or dare..

I told....is something wrong with manpower balance in this patch...in my opinion...

Edit: maybe the problem is from bonuses from difficulty level,and not from faction balance.It is nonsense to make hard and expert like impossible,for one player who beat expert AI always,in vanilla game or another mods...

AI here is far much more improved than other mods or CoH-ToV,but bonuses who make one AI to be able to humiliate two experienced allied players,or three with less experience.. is ... nonsense...

I know it hasn't exactly been that long since Eastern Front was released, and there is a lot to do. I have quite simply pointed out a long list of bugs/errors/glitches that I'm concerned and addressed them, while commenting on some other stuff. Believe me, I'm working with a mod team for Freespace 2 and running one myself, so I know what it is like.

Sometimes, it isn't that difficult to win a battle as Soviets. You just got to know the units and their capabilities while also making sure to expand early in the game. I often suffered from this until I learned to just move and do it. It's like that with most battles. The early bird reaps the major rewards, while the slow turtle gets the few leftovers. As soviets, you have to be that early bird. With 1.04, it has started to become a bit more fair and balanced. Soon, they will blossom into a perfectly balanced and fully-fledged army ready to kick some Panzer and Werchmat butt.

While this isn't patch related, I'd like to ask. I wish to create a COH shortcut that loads Eastern Front so I don't have to run the launcher all the time. Can someone help me out there?
