Il-2 strafe/bomb run
« on: January 26, 2010, 04:55:43 AM »
What's the consensus on this?

Cooldown, may be fine. Could be a tad longer, and the frequency of planes comming onto the map should deffenatly be reduced.

Bombing runs are strong. There's a reason that the US pays 250 munitions and it drops smoke so you know it's comming.

A free russian ability that frequently puts out 1200+ munitions worth of aerial death, and with those congested maps you gave us + the numbers of Soviet units to act as spotters, there is on most occasions, absolutely no place to go to avoid this.

This affect is compounded when more than one player is playing breakthorugh doctrine.

4 IL-2 runs at the same time is fucking broken. It's just fucking broken.

It cant be this good. With the other factions, you can stop the usage of their high muni end tier call ins by restricting munition income, but there is NO way to prevent the Soviets from calling on their IL-2s.

discuss.. IMO, plane frequency needs to be toned down.

First.  Try not to discuss anything with 4v4 because 10000 things could potentially be broken with that amount of people.

Having said that.  I did notice that, americans spend 250muni for bombing run (which at the moment is underpowered).

The ability should basically be the equivalent of the heinkel strafing run for PE.  If the frequency of the planes is reduced(it should) then the ability should last longer to compensate.

When i make a balance post, i try to cover it from all angles.

I barely stray from 1vs1 automatch personally, but it is still a legitimate point.

The same logic applies to 2vs2s, which i know people would like balanced.

Imagine 2 IL-2 runs coming like clock work on rails and metal?
Can you say, "1/4 the map shutdown?"

Very good point, perhaps instead JUST a few less planes and less often would be better.

this ability is completely ridiculous, i dont see how anyone would not see it as a problem, most of all, it's free.

Same goes for the god of war ability, 2-3 minutes of locking down a sector for free is just too much.

The sturmovik strafes and bombs, so your in for a world of hurt, even by your base sector. I lost 2 storms, 1 volk to different strafes and 2 stugs and 1 tiger to different bombing runs by my base...

Agreed. God of war needs to be a much shorter duration higher intensity barrage. Nothing is more annoying than having to withdraw from what feels like a good eighth of the map for 3 friggin minutes.

IL2s should have less planes coming in and needs to last for a shorter amount of time. I say equalize it to 45 seconds with the Henschel, currently it lasts for an entire minute.

Their abilitys cost lots of CPs and most of their units are very underpowered without 100-300 muni upgrade

way too strong. needs a duration- as well as an incoming-airplane-nerf.

not changing this ability is simply not an option if balance truly is what this section is about...

How about making IL-2`s attack only in friendly territory? axis just have to be in their sectors until Sturmoviks pass?
