BA-64 armored reconnaissance car
« on: January 24, 2010, 07:33:24 PM »
Would be good as a light recon vechicle in a start of game, a counter for Sd.Kfz.222.

Almost 9.000 were built from 42 to may45.

Looks like a good design, looks very similar to a German Armored Car.

Sd.Fkz.222 and Halftrack are able in 2nd building, and that crappy T-90 - only in 3, after 150 fule.

See the difference?

I agree. T-90 appears when infantry have bazookas and other AT weapons. And in real world, they were just prototypes not massively built tank.

Also, S.Kz.222 could cap points, no one of Sov vechicles - cant.

For some reason, the T-34 is able to cap points. I donĀ“t know if that was solved in the patch, though (besides, I wonder if a T-34 with riding infantry could cap like a Bren...).

It was probably the tank rider 34s they can cap but can do it without the inf on it for some reason. Also Sd.Kfz 222's cannot cap only the scout 221's can the 222's are the ones with the 2cm cannon. They could also use a T60 which is a t70 type body with a 2cm belt fed auto cannon and a mg in the turret. Still, having a BA-64 would be a very good balance, also in real life BA-64's were sometimes upgraded with PTRD/S's in the turret replacing the mg, more upgrades in the armory anyone?.

I think the model is done, but I didn't see it with the textures.

SauerKRAUT - BA-64 PT (anti-tank), with PTRD in turm - was opnly a prototype, and was never built.

Strange, I have read about some and even a realism tabletop I do called Flames of War lets you use them, there are still the ones with the DShk's. Also from battlefield.ru "However, all those works were abandoned, the reasons are not clear for me yet. Anyway, in the regular army there were sporadic home-made conversions with both PTRS and PTRD antitank rifles."

Hmmm.... Yep, even if some 1-3 or even 10 such cars were made - from >6.000 it is a very small part...

IS-2 almost usually had 12,7mm HMG on top - in game we have no.
ISU-152 crews used to add "anty infantry device" with DP or even MG-34/42, mounting it on roof top.
Many other examples I may recall...

Those MG woud be some uprgades like the enginery's flamethrower. 50/75 muns per tank to get it.
So, the muns could be usefull somewhere else than in the armory.
