This is a fiction "russian sounded" music. Lyrics is a just "russian sounded" words without any sense.

Why DEVs didnt used really great WWII time Soviet songs and marshes?

Cause apart from russians, no one else seems to find those 'songd' them particularly appealing I'm afraid so these were our best options...and I bloody love that tune!

Also, the song "Tania" by James Horner from 'Enemy at the Gates' soundtrack is used.

I am sorry, though i regret it now that it's a bit too late for me to learn russian (i wish i had chosen to do so when i was younger), i must admit i had no idea that the lyrics of those two musics were fake.

Nevertheless, it sounds so epic...  ;)

Real great WWII time Soviet songs and marshes sound too old fashioned for the game.

British, American and German marches aren't in Company of Heroes, so why everyone decided we needed the Red Army Choir was anybody's guess.

Current song is not optimal for Soviet Union faction. It dont show "Slavian soul"... May be for You in West it is nice, but for us here... Another "Call of Duty sounded" intro :(

This would be best choise, as it was incredible popular all over infantry men in WW II:

"Davay zakurim, tovarisch po odnoy" (Lets smoke, camrad, our last one)

A warm wind blows, the roads grew weak,
And on the southern front thaw again.
The snow melts in Rostov, melts in Taganrog.
These days, one day we'll remember.

Chorus:

On the lights, fires,
On friends-comrades
Somewhere, someday we'll talk.
I remembered the infantry,
And our dear company,
And you - for what you gave me last sigarette.
Let us light up, comrade, for last one,
Let us light up, my friend!

We will meet again Odessa as hosts
Stars of the Black Sea will shine for us.
Glorious Kakhovka, city Nikolaev
These days when - something we will remember.

Refrain.

And when the enemy will not be a trace
And we will return to our home,
Recall how we head West through the Ukraine
These days when - something we will remember.

Refrain.

What?

The ONLY faction in Company of Heroes that has anything resembling "soul" is the British faction. Americans, Germans and Panzer Elite all have the same "war is horrible BAWWWWW" tone in their themes. And the British compositions are still nowhere near "I´m so British I shit the Queen" level.

The Russian themes right now are pretty damn awesome AND evocative, since they are related to popular culture icons like Enemy at the Gates and Hunt for the Red October. It is true that this might not be so evocative for players from Eastern Europe or Russia, but I doubt that this mod was ever thought out for them, what with Russian troops talking like Americans, only in Russian.
