[Solved]Soviet Unlock Compatibility Patch i.e. QuickFix
« on: January 22, 2010, 11:18:50 AM »
Company of Heroes as you may as well know has an A-B patching system. My computer apparently doesn't like anything above the 2.5 patch so patching after that, Tis safe to say is impossible, but then again thats a wholenother issue.

Soviets are locked yes, as many people have already reported. Moderators just say patch to 2.601, that is a sheer impossibility for me.

Could it be possible to upload a patch that simply unlocks it for whatever reason why its locked? Or is there ANY WAY at all involving changing Hex-Codes... or something... anything please! Just tell me what to do to unlock the Soviet Faction.

I am well aware of the risks, but considering the nature of this mod I cannot just let it pass.

(Please don't post any suggestions related to installing/uninstalling COH... please. I've tried EVERYTHING. It installs the wrong software apparently the 1.71 patch for whatever reason, and I'm not going to download a 2Gig patch that inturn mightn't work.)

The only other way is to do illegal stuffs, so I'm not even go there. Try to uninstall CoH and then use CCcleaner. After that reinstall.

I'm sorry, I seem to not understand. Is there some necessity in the 2.601 patch that makes it cannot work without? If not then I just don't see the reason why Tis locked in the first place.

Patch 2.601 is necessary. No EF without 2.601.

Check the second thing

Secondly, some modders that were working on adding new factions for the game found that they were locked out by one of our in-game product checks.

I had this problem - couldn't update game to 2.501 from 2.500 from standalone patch. Solved this by using in-game update option instead of manual - it downloads updates and installs it by itself.

Solved:

Wiped my hard drive, re-installed everything, re-downloaded everything. Now it works fine.

Pity I had to use such drastic measures in order to get this to work... but oh well, I guess thats just life.
