An interesting map proposal.
« on: January 12, 2010, 12:18:12 PM »
Now, I know that some have been kinda negative on the Soviet faction being used alongside the other allies because, for obvious reasons, it didn't happen.  But, as we all know, during the end of the war the US and Russian forces did link up in various locations, and they had to go through the Germans to get there.

I propose a 2v2 map with one allied player on the west, one on the east and two German players smack in the middle.  Of course not everyone would have to have it Ami-2Ger-Rus but it could be done and would put a little spice into the normal game play.  ( Not that it is needed but the more the merrier. )

Others would know better than I on this phase on the war but perhaps a couple of rivers with bridges on either side of the German positions.

Gentlemen start your keyboards! Let the discussion begin!

And I apologise if this has already been suggested.

There is (or was at least) a map similar to this. I cannot confirm if it has been chosen for the real release. It was a map, where One team had a central island, the other team started in north east and south west resp.

I like! :) But central team would have advantage.
 How about North-South vs East-West? With North-South
having better linkage, but East-West having better ressource?

I suppose that the center would seem to have the advantage being able to chose the direction to attack, but whichever side they do not attack would be left open to assault.  A breakthrough on one side would spell doom to the attacking forces on the other.  Battle of the Bulge anyone?  US absorb attack allowing the Russians to have a nearly unopposed breakthrough.

Anyways, it is good to hear that it has already been implemented in some ways.

I see a huge problem if the two Allied players chose the British. This would allow them to build some brutally efficient artillery/mortar positions, and basically shell the Axis to oblivion.
In the meantime, they could collect the resources to build up their tech tree/army, while the Axis are busy rebuilding their units destroyed by the artillery...

All in all, I'd be worried about the balancing of such a map.
The fundamental problem of Democracy is that the majority of voters are idiots fueled by uninformed rage - and the Politicians do everything to cater to them.

To go off topic... LOUPBLANC'S 1000th POST!

And to be on topic:

I like the original map setup, anything different would drastically change the gameplay for me :P

I think if someone was playing this they would want to try something different than the usual map play style. maybe they could be a bit closer and repairing a bridge would be needed for them to link up without needing to fight through the axis? idk.

We had a map like this, but I think it was removed due to a bug or something. It was a brilliant map though, so I hope to see it in a future version.
