New Ostheer-Feature: "Klappspaten frei"

Hello Guys

I got a new Idea for my Fanboy-Faction: Ostheer xD

It's called: "Klappspaten frei" (means like: "prepare folding spade").
And what is the sense of it?

It's a special ability for K98-Infantery that allows them, to use their folding spade for close combat.
This makes them much more effectiv in nearest range.

For using this ability there are these requirements:
U need to investigate this ability in the Ostheer-HQ, then u have to use 30 Munition for activating the ability.
It will last a 45 secs and gives the infantery a high effective close-combat weapon.
It has a Cooldown about 90 secs.


This is a new feature for CoH and makes in my opinion much sense to include it in EF (cause it was reality^^)

Maybe, if u don't like the Name of the ability, here is a secound one: "Sturmabwehrschießen".
This is the Order in the "Bundeswehr" today.
Means nearly the same^^

So essentially melee combat? Nice idea, but I think i may have a better idea for the execution. It still needs an upgrade, but instead of spades, you can fix bayonets. This would take enough time that you cant just go back and forth for balance reasons

Equip Bayonets

Pros/Cons
+Increased damage at very close range

-Takes time to switch
-Reduces accuracy (weight of bayonet on end of rifle, think Band of Brothers)

your new to mods right? It's not that hard to see. Company of Heroes has probably the second hardest system to mod (from what I have seen)
now to implement your little "hand on hand" combat would take years of work and the chaps at the Japanese mod now this to well (unfortunately)
It would be a great thing but utterly impossible to implement in the Company of Heroes system. Now you may bring up Empire Total War or something like that, look up Empire and you will see that all those little infantry battles that all of us so love to zoom in on and put into slow motion guess what! they did that with actors wearing those little funny suits with the white balls on them!
different systems it is ALMOST impossible to implement into the company of heroes system
(god I feel like loup :D ;D ;D ;D ;D)

I got this ability in my mind, when I remember my time in the army^^

And then I combined it with the fact, that in war is nearly allways a close combat happening.
So I thought: would be great in COH^^

It would be great but.............sorry mate it would take years and years (well maybe months ;D) it's just one of those things that the Company of Heroes engine just can't handle

 BUT... the problem is 'how would other faction units react?'

 other faction behaviors. So that'S problem 1. As for the graphx
 well, the fighting isn't such a biggie. Just swinging about their
 spades is fine. BUT yea, would need animations done, which
 sis a completely different issue than merely changing stats,
 or making models.

 to consider ;) If you really like it, though, make it work on
 your own, then we'll consider it more seriously ;)

right...............I'm sorry for starting to take this topic WAY off course but I think the subject of debate is over sense it would take WAY to long for them to implement hand on hand combat into the mod. Plus like the other guy said "how will other factions deal with it [they can't do that it wouldn't be fair]"

ok yes exactly so I mean it will be
1.) unfair to the other factions because all the other factions can not use hand to hand combat.
2.) if all the other factions can't use hand to hand combat whats the point sense there is no way of the other factions to fight them back  ;D
and 3.) it would take FAR to long

 But the animations is still a problem :) Making models is
 something, animating is entirely different , though.

 - Far too long? Modeling/skinning/animating T34's takes
 far too long, yknow, like... 2 years! I vote we cast them
