Conscript Penal Death
« on: February 10, 2015, 04:32:31 AM »
When the comissiar of the squad dies, the model automatically turns into a conscript model (The uniform goes from green officer to brown/tan conscript uniform, BUT the model keeps the officer cap upon death). Also a friendly reminder, when the comissiar dies it is lost forever.

The commissar reinforcement issue was already reported and fixed and is included in the beta. And thanks for the heads up about the dead body glitch.

Does the commissar have more health than regular conscript and is the squad have full bar health when the conditions are met?

No, all the entities should have the same HP. The HP is not increased after the upgrade either(as far as I can remember). Right now the squad had -1HP after upgrade, not sure if that is present in the latest released version, if so it will be fixed in the next patch.

Why don't we instead add another guy to the squad, the commissiar who has similar health and armor to the major? Then we have an 7 conscripts with an added 1 comissiar. It doesn't make sense how a regular conscript all of a sudden turns into an officer. Then they will be required to reinforce that officer too so it is more realistic. I find it strange how all of a sudden a random conscript is assigned officer uniform without any good reason, they need to have one coming from an outside reinforcement point.

A lot of things don't make sense in CoH :). Also, Conscripts doesn't need an 11th man ;).

@Bish

Second that. It works fine internally so I see no reason to change it.

Yes but atleast could you change the comissiar to have more health and armor? All officers in the game are durable at the least and are atleast the same if not have more health than a regular infantryman, let alone a very weak 2 hp conscript.

47 HP per man, to be more precise ;). I understand where you are coming from, but it will create health inconsistencies and also cause healing bugs IIRC.

What officers are more durable than soldiers? Because if you talk about the CW Captain and Lt. it is due to being one man squads and they should worth it.

If you mean than the Riflemen squad leader or the Ranger squad leader have more health than the other entities on their squad, then that's false. The only "officers" that have more health than their peers in the squad are the Strelky leader and the Major from their respectives squads, and that's because they monopolize the bonuses and abilities.

Conscripts act more like a Riflemen squad rather than the Command squad, so there is no need to have the leader have more HP than the rest.

Squad leaders are squad leaders not officers. They are Sergeants and corporals. They look almost the same as any other guy in the squad and have no appearance of more badassery. On the other hand, the guys with distinguishable officer uniform like the officer in the skirmish commander, major in the command squad, the LT and the captain all have different uniforms and have more health.

Yeah, I understand but so far there is no reason to add him extra health based on his appearance.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I've been noticing a similar issue with Landser squads. When a squad member dies, their corpse is always the model wearing the brown camouflage uniform, not the plain green/grey uniform, regardless of which one the member wore when alive. Interestingly enough though, the model "remembers" whether the member was wearing a cap or a helmet, because the correct headgear is retained on death, just not the uniform.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that this only happens when the soldier is killed outright. If they're hit and go into the wounded animations, they retain the correct uniform, but if they're killed instantly the uniform always switches.
