Realism suggestion
« on: October 25, 2009, 06:16:14 PM »
I dont know if anyone has thought of this but I figured I would throw it out there.

There is a great mod called the rc realism mod and it does exactly what is sounds like, I was wondering if the team would contact the developer of the rc realism mod for ideas or maybe more help. (if he is ok with it, and there is no copy right infringment or other difficulties)

maybe a stupid idea maybe not, thought I would bring it up seen as I thought these two mods were a match made in heaven if they were combined

Eastern Front is fairly unique for keeping everything vanilla. We don't want to upset that.

No they couldn't, unless they got their hands on the mod and modded it themselves. We're still on the fence about allowing things like that.

is there a possibility that the devs make a second eastern front mod ( easy using the old mod) and make it realistc- or open the mod after realising that other mod-teams could do this?

We are not going to complicate matters by making two mods. It is too much work, and it would split our fanbase in half (less online games)

Well, the EF devs said no, but nothing is stopping you
from doing your own mod. They had a vision and they gave
it life. Do the same :)

 That's how they LEARNED :)
By making mistakes and learning from them.
They're not relic employees you know.
You know, there are many people in the country today who, through no fault of their own, are sane. Some of them were born sane. Some of them became sane later in their lives. It is up to people like you and me who are out of our tiny little minds to try and help these people overcome their sanity

Anyone can mod Eastern Front as much as they like.

Just keep it to yourself and never release it online.
And dont whine to the devs if/when you mess up your game.

Simples  ;)

I think this game would be a lot more fun if every single
person in the world had their own self-modded version.
To their own tastes :) (Making Wehr OP, or PE OP, or...
Or making brits have 1mp, 0 pop Churchill tanks with
mounted 88)... everyone's dream come true...

... Making them all incompatible to one another...

A lot of solo playing, don't you think?

Beware what you wish for :D

: And my earlier comment was that nothing was stopping
him from making his own EF... ... from scratch ;)
: Side note. EF team are using someone else's work :
Relic's and some (most?) of the models aren't even theirs.
But they did get it working. Everyone is copying from
 everyone else, it seems...

... Seriously, I wish they do a nice job of making it work
and Relic... makes it a free update for everyone so that
soviets/OE become standard, and thus everyone wins :)
(Old school, and new school) breathing new life into the
 game anew !

Well if you think about it they cant not let you. Unless you post a message telling everyone.

The thing that annoys people who make mods is when their work gets tampered with and redistributed as something "new" with no credit given.

Example, I'm running what would amount to a "megamod" or something on Fallout 3. I've took lots of mods, merged them and fiddled about with them to my own liking. Which is fine.
Its just if I ever released it I'd get killed on the forums for not really doing any of the hard work.

Same goes for when EF is released, I want to add in the new models that have been made on the relicforums (comet, sturmpanzer etc) and to do so I'd have to tinker with EF abit to get them working in my game alongside the soviets.

But if I released it online calling it "Eastern Front Expanded" or something equally daft. I'm sure the banhammer would come crashing down on my tiny little plagiarising face.

Or something like that...
