Osther rewards units.
« on: July 09, 2013, 05:42:38 PM »
I had some rewards units ideals for the Osther.

The Panzer I for the kubelwagen, The Panzer I has more armor and firepower but cost a lot more and is slower then the kubelwagen.

Also the Panzer I could work for the Panzer II, The Panzer I is weaker in armor and the firepower but has a higher suppression rate and is cheaper then the Panzer II.

The Jagderpanzer I for the Marder II, The Jagderpanzer I has less firepower and armor then the marder II but is faster, cheaper and has a lower profile then the Marder II.

The Flakpanzer 38t "Gepard" for the Kugelblitz, The Gepard is petty much worse in every aspect then the Kugelblitz but is much less expensive then the Kugelblitz.

Thanks for posting your feedback and welcome to EF :).

Panzer I units weren't used as combat units in the Eastern Front after 1941, Panzer II(until 1942) and Panzer III were used though. However, it is obvious the Panzer I cannot be the reward unit of the Panzer II, because we are not talking about the same Panzer II.

When you say Ostheer Panzer II, it appears you think of this:

but in reality we have this:

and the Panzer I is this:

The difference between both Panzer I and Panzer II is huge, so it won't fit as reward unit, let alone as reward unit for the Luchs that comes in T3... too late for such weak unit.

The Kugelblitz is based on the Panzer IV chassis, the Flakpanzer 38t "Gepard" is based on the Panzer 38t chassis and there is a huge difference between both. The reason we used the former instead of the latter is because fits better for a late game unit. So, no Flakpanzer 38t for reward of the Kugelblitz.

Thanks for the reply and i was not thinking that the panzer I was to reward unit for both the kubelwagen and the Luch, just one and maybe the Gepard could be a reward unit for the Luch, both have powerful anti-infantry weaponry but the Gepard has anti-air power at the cost of being less armored.

And the panzer I only being use until 1941,well i dont think the Kugelblitzs ever saw combat on the large with only 5 units being made in world war II so logic is out the window when gameplay demands it but i know that we cant add something like a maus or ratte, I just think that a few panzer Is is not too out of place for osther who have a "out of date but still deadly" theme going for them and use whatever they can get there hands on so a out of date tank fits them in my opinion.

I didn't mention it as reward unit for the Kubelwagen, because it won't fit as reward unit for it either, because the only weapon that could damage a Panzer I would be AT rifles, heavy machine guns and AT gun teams(besides armour ofc). And that would really break balance.

So, Panzer I cannot be in Ostheer because it was completely outdated and there is no a real gameplay benefit on have it on board, but supposing we ignore that and we just add it for the sake of it, there is no place to put it because there is nothing that can fit it's role.

Jagdpanzer I for the Marder II would be no, because we don't have an own model for Panzer I so there is no way to have the Jagdpanzer I as variant. We do have a Panzer I model but it is not ours, so we cannot just import it and use it as we wish.

For the Flakpanzer 38t would be no as well, because as said before, we already considered this to be used instead of the Kugelblitz, however it is weak to be used as late game unit just like the Kugelblitz is used. If we add it we would need to change a lot of tech things and it is not worth it.

Flakpanzer 38t as reward of the Luchs has more sense, but I'm not sure what advantage can offer the Flakpanzer 38t against the Luchs because the AA feature is not enough IMO. It would be bigger, clunky and less armoured just like the Marder III and II.

Well its ok, they are not as necessary as bug fixes, balancing ,new maps ,improve models,The campaign and/or new factions etc,etc....

Still keep up the great work on the mod.

We will see later if this model could be used somewhere in MP. But you can be sure it can be used in the campaigns.

Maybe the Gepard could have longer range and is more accurate then Luch so its a heavy infantry sniper.

The Nimrod instead of the Kugelblitz?

That'll likely be part of the Foreign support faction.

Argument is invalid; the SdKfz 22X series of armored cars had enough armor to withstand small arms fire. As it stands a couple of BAR squads will chew up an unmicroed PE AC or SC in a heartbeat.

Nothing to fit its role? It's an expensive T1 'tank' that can't destroy buildings. A big ole' PE Scout Car that takes less damage. OH GOD WHY D:

My argument is valid. Do you want to put a weaker version of the Panzer I just to have the unit in EF and just because PE has ACs with paper armour? It is fine you are ok with that, but I'm not so eager to add the Panzer I into Ostheer and this feeling is shared by most of the Dev team.
