keeping the mod allive
« on: October 13, 2009, 02:27:33 AM »
Now all mods do eventually die................. now some of us may say this "this mod is gonna be diffrent!"
I sugest that the moders to certan things to keep their mod going. cause I would personaly love to see this mod live a long life.
What I have seen before is mod developers using "fight nights" where people can always know that on a certian day of the weak the mod will always be active.
just a sugestion I have seen severl mods with only like 40 people keep it alive with fight night
example of a mod that has survived through a fight night: Marenournstrum mod for RO
Mods that I have seen die cause of no fight night: Cathripaincrosses

Don't worry we've got ideas to keep things alive ;)

Ostheer are a larger example.
Possible SP Campaign another large one.

And plenty of smaller things in between and after to keep things worth while ;)

Once the Open Beta is out, you should be able to find, hiding, one of our plans for longevity.

Sadly for you - very, very tip of the iceberg, is my style ;)

Fight nights, sound very cool though.
The closed Beta testers will be using xfire/getting an xfire group.
This can be opened up to the rest of you afterwards.
Shouldn't be too long till then ;)

fight nights actually sound like a great idea.  Something like a friday or saturday night is usually a good idea, you usually have high traffic those days anyways.

As for future plans, everything sounds LOVELY. :)

lol well all the people here are in diffrent time zones so................. that would be a problem cause 7 o'clock would be like noon for the chaps in England so making it a certain day would be better

Well, 95% of the devs are European, so it may be in Euro time.

I believe most of the mod followers are European too, although we do have a significant amount of North Americans. We will see, it is a difficult decision.

Well, it's really a matter of naming.

I said Open Beta, because further work and upgrades to the mod/Russians will be done.

You could call this release 1.0, and not a beta - because things would be done as far as most people would be concerned.

But for the Devs, they'd still be a load to do in our opinions - upgrading models, adding extra additions etc. the finish touches.

Like if you were to make a sword.
You could use it, you could test it, you could sell it.
But the final and perfect creation, is after the buffering, polishing, sharpening ;)
