Lan Conection Problems
« on: April 29, 2012, 01:58:40 PM »
I have A problem,i cant join a hosted EF mod
Me and my friend just formatted our pc's in a attempt to fix this but to no avail
We are using TOV 2.602.0,EF 1.6.1.0, launcher 3.2.0.0
TOV is connecting without  errors
EF shows this:

Then the host just vanishes after 15 seconds
sometimes when you dibble click the game kicks out

Are you sure you both have the same version of EF mod?
Have you tried to host any other map or just that one on the picture?
If you carefully look at the pic you will see info: "Incompatible map" probably that is why you can't join.
I had that problem also cuz of some maps i downloaded.

Hm, am not sure where is problem. Maybe you should try to re-install EF that helped me once.
When i had that error i removed all downloaded maps and all works fine now.
Do you even have custom maps?

Hm weird i just tried with 2 friends and all connected without any errors.
Well here is what you can try (does not mean that it will work 100%) :
On one cpu goto CoH_Intalation_Folder copy the Eastern_Front folder to some usb stick.
Then goto CoH_Intalation_Folder on OTHER cpu rename Eastern_Front folder to bkpEF and copy folder from usb stick.
Then you will be sure that files match. And then try to join lan game.

Ok we managed to play a game ,but the connection is random lets say one in 25(approx) host attempts  succeed in connecting
some times host information is wrong like player rank has a question mark, team shows as British but the host is American, ping has a red X,but if we get connected we can select what ever map.but it all seems random,i think their may be something wrong with the lobby...

Yes it does the same but if TOV works why to copy data that is ok :).
I also have that british sign but game works ok, try to lower details maybe ping is too high, also try to turn off firewalls like zonealarm or similar.

Ok we got it to work...kinda
You are going to think im mad,but it works

in the 15 seconds that the game shows the host in the lobby, the host has to select :
Starting location:Fixed
And then repeatedly press "swap starting location"
the client just repeatedly click on the game ,then you get connection ....
when we are connected the maps all work and all seems well ,we just played 1:30 hr without errors(i love it..)

note:
our windows firewall is off,we run ESET EAV(no firewall)
i think there is something wrong with the protocols of the lobby

Am not sure that problem is with lobby i play with 3 friends in LAN, try to turn off that ESET EAV, AFAIK it eats a lot of memory and probably the bandwidth too. I don't like it i have used it before few years but without ESET my cpu and LAN works like a charm. That is just my experience maybe in your case it won't work who knows, but you can't lose anything if you try without it ;).
