T34/85 vs Panther

Hi i´ve read that the t34/85 will be equal to panther panzers. i know that this will not be such a  realistic mod like botb- but as far i can see you ( the developers) give the t34 much more power than he actually had. i´ve a pretty good knowledge about the russian and the german tanks of ww2 and i wanted to tell you a few facts about: german tanks vs. t34
1.most t-34 were destroyed by stugs
2.even a t-34/85 had no high chancen to destroy a panther in a 1vs1 fight, eccept the t-34 can hit the flanks or the back  of the panther
3.the russian  commanders  tried  everytime   to send  min. 4 t-34s against 1 tiger, because they knowed about the weakness of the t-34 against heavy german tanks like the tiger
so my suggestion is: make the t-34 cheap but weak

i know what you mean.

but in the guide it just says: "is approaching the panther in killing power" NOT matching. and we don't know anything about the range, armor, accuracy and how many shots are deflected. and we don't know about population, fuel and manpower costs either.
so i think we'll just have to wait and see it in the game before we can really talk about it.

I think the problem is that the t34 was made throughout the war, so it's armor was comparitively weak by 1945, but nonetheless, the sloped armor always helped.

Panthers were developed as a response to the t34, but better due to the heavier armor. Nonetheless, the t34 could still destroy the panther with the 76.2 with luck.

The 85mm gun was designed to kill tigers, so the t34 would have been on an equal footing overall to the panther except in crew training.

You're suggestion doesn't really fit into company of heroes since panthers could just have easily (if not more easily) destroyed shermans, what with the ronson effect etc)

making the t34 poorly armored just isn't accurate for coh: the t34 faired excellently against the 37, 50 and 75mm guns, whereas a Sherman would burst into flames at the slightest opportunity...

I cant see a problem for the game. If T34/85 isnt enough then produce JS II tanks
In the end such a tankbattle will be win by supportunits, who help one of the both tanks to destroy the other one faster.

Well, historically speaking the T34/76 was outclassed by stus/P4s in tank v tank battles from late 42(the quality of tank crews made the german technical advantage alot worse).

The T34/85(44) closed the technical gap between the stug an Pz4 but it never came close to matching the Panther in firepower or armour.

Unlike the allies though, the soviets always had good heavies and in 44 made the IS2 to go toe to toe with the german heavies.  Quality wise it was nowhere near as good as the Panther/Tiger, but it did have a gun that would go through them at most ranges and could also withstand some shots to the front. But, as with all soviet tanks they made shit loads of them too!

Balance wise...you'll have to wait and see, but it will be good!

if the panther is not upgraded (first D version) it should be taken out by t34/85 or at least capable of imobilizing it ,but when the panther is upgraded i think t34 wouldn't be match for panther.p.s maby u could add  to t34 anti rocket upgrade which would look something like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:T34_85_4.jpg
