logistics of an army unit:
« on: September 24, 2011, 06:59:28 PM »
Hey guys!
One question.

Anyone here with detailed information about the consumption of fuel and supplies (munition, food, and so one) of an soviet or us army division?

How much fuel need a soviet or american tank division, tank corps? How much fuel and supplies a rifle division? How much fuel need a US infantry division? How much a fighter division or a bomber division?

Anyone with detailed informations?
May the force be with you.

This sounds dumb but you could try wikipedia. I only say that b/c I honestly don't know :-\.

I think US army uses 3 MRE(Meal ready to eat) bags a day and a canteen of water a day or week(i think its 1 week). This is per soldier. I saw it on the History channel ;D.

So times 3 MRE's by the number soldiers in the army and then by the number of days in a year and there you go :D

You should probably ask someone else

Om Nom Nom Nom
"Panzer-Guppy ready for battle!"
"Ha Ha Ha! We have the ZEAL!"
"Grenadiers! Fall In!!"

German Army wasnt asked ;)
I have no problem to work with stuff in my mother tongue ;)
BUT all this foreign information are a problem for me because my home literature and my inet sources are mostly about "my german army" ;)

I'm pretty sure that soviets didn't have anything like food issuing, instead soliders were making "requisitions" or just steal food.

All armies must have food ::). Its just shortages occur, paticularly with the SU and Germany due to the situation at the time. I thnk Japan also had problems ???

Ill try checking for exact numbers. It should be easier since I live in the US  :P

Edit: Heres a good website I just found: http://www.angelfire.com/ct/ww2europe/stats.html

I'll look for more :P
