64- Bit OS
« on: November 26, 2010, 04:53:21 AM »
So I downloaded this fine and before I can even install it I get the following message:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are running.  Check your computers system information to see if you need a 32 bit or 64 bit version of the program, then contact the software publisher."

I have windows 7 64 bit.  Ive tried running as an admin and in every compatibility mode windows offers.  Still the same results. Help, Please.

I have win7 64 bits and didn't have any problem; in order to run EF, you'll need:

- .NET Framework 3.5 (I recommend to update to 3.5 sp1 as well)
- Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable 2005 x64.
- Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable 2008 x64.
- DirectX Runtimes.
- Company of Heroes v2.601.
- Run the game with admin rights.

Where did you download the game?

I downloaded it via the link from the eastern front website.  I believe from the file front link.  Im checking to make sure the updates are all there now.

I have NET Framework 4 which I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that its not campatible yet so how do I remove it?  And I have the steam version of CoH so it should be up to date.

You don't need to remove it, just install 3.5. Before starting the game, check that EF Launcher has the correct CoH Driectory option.

I cannot open the Launcher at all.  Before anything happens it get that error message. When I right click and select Run as Admin it says it cannot find the directory.

That's because you have a steam copy.

Could you try this?

1)Open EF Launcher
2)Click OK on Error Message
3)Click on Settings Menu
4)Change the current path of CoH to the correct one. Currently you should have nothing, just a grey text box.
5)After chosing the correct path,  you can now play from the launcher. Of course, perhaps you'll need to update your EF. If you updated EF before solving this error, most probably won't be able to update by the launcher, if not you should click on the "Check for Updates" button.

If you updated EF before solving this error, you should follow these steps:
1)Go to CoH folder, then to EF_Updates or something like that, you will recognize the correct folder because it stores the patches you download.
2)Execute each update in their respective order(Updates from 1.21 or above).
3)You are ready to play the lattest version of EF.

If you can't download them from the launcher. You can do it from here(1.2.1.0 to 1.2.3.2). If you have the same issue after trying that, let me know.

Settings menu? as in the COH EF launcher?  or via a windows settings manager?

I was just wondering if you ment the properties via windows because when I open the EF it gives me the error message and then when i click ok that disappears and nothing happens.  I am not even able to get to the launcher.  Im checking the game requirements again but they should all match.

Let's try another thing.

Open Regedit (Windows Key + R -> Enter regedit). Search for this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Eastern Front

Does it exists? What's the info inside it?

can you check the Company of Heroes folder that exists there?
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Company of Heroes".

And also check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{97AFD0D8-5720-4A59-BFDC-CB92A36FADF9}_is1

export those values(right click over the folder->export), change the extension from reg to txt and upload them here.

Did you installed EF with admin rights? If not reinstall it with them.

No I cannot even start the installer I get that error message as soon as I click on the download and then it goes away and nothing happens.  Ive tried running it as an admin (my account is admin also though).  I am not even able to install because I cannot get it to open.  I am downloading again to check if there was a problem.
