American Rifle Squads (1.23)

Hi,
One thing I've never understood is why my American rifle squads and squads with the g43 have the same fire rate as squads with bolt action rifles, like the Brits with their enfields, and Germans with their k98's. Shouldn't they have a lot higher fire rate or a slightly random rate?

Also, I forgot to mention this earlier srry, I thought there should an upgrade where they will be equipped with a seargeant with a thompson

I can tell you with 100% certainty that the devs will completely ignore this. Riflemen have been balanced this way since the beginning when God created the Heavens and the Earth and CoH.
Clearly you don't understand the fundamental balance between volks and rifles. Volks win at long range due to their greater accuracy. However, riflemen fire faster the closer they are so they have quite a significant cooldown reduction at close range. This allows them to beat volks up close. They also have an M1 Garand not a G43 which is a German rifle.
Again, this is perfectly fine the way it is.

On a side note regarding rifles, I do think that they gain vet a tad too fast now. I think they should reduce the rate they get vet by a very very minor bit, like 5-10% more requirements for their vet, because vet 1 is not too hard to attain, and at vet 2 the riflemen are already walking monsters.

True. We don't try and fix what is NOT actually broken.
By that, what I mean is....there is 'some' disagreement about rifles getting vet too fast when they applied modifiers with the research of stickies/grenades. However its not seen as anything that causes major imba and was not mentioned in the experts changelog.
For my part...I believe the faster vet was a good idea, however some of the bonuses should have been reduced to compensate for this.
US bonus was too powerful because you rarely ever managed get more than 1-2 vet3 squads
Lastly, I always believed the BAR upgrade to be too powerful(a huge jump in squad firepower). In my opinion it should have been split into two with the squad receiving 1 BAR at a time for a more gradual effect alongside vet.
BAR rifles just force Vet2 Grens spam every time because nothing else can stand up to them.
Of course that mean in the mean time BARs also make a mockery out of weapons/support teams which they cut down too easily.
But then again that's just my opinion and it won't affect any changes we make to vanila balance

Actually I agree that BARs are too strong. But it wouldn't bother me if this wasn't changed. I think the vet is fine too against wehr. It's only against PE they vet too fast.

Rifleman have taken several nerfs over the years; bar suppression, reinforcement cost. I don’t agree with any changes to riflemen or bars. You start nerfing bars again and PE is going to murder USA.
Early bars means late supply yard

As I said...opinions vary ,which is why we used the experts change list rather than make up our own when it comes to vanila balance.
That is why we're not changing anything else.
WH and US are arguably on the same balance level.
Are they perfectly balanced?...of course not but then again nothing ever is, especially for a game like COH where there are so many factions and variables in the combat system.
US and WH have issues which are simply left untouched because its simpler that way and people belive its much better to ignore them since you can get good gameplay without addressing them. People have settled on that fact.
US gameplay revolves around plain rifle spam...You could happily remove the MG/Mortar/Halftrack/Croc/jeep and no one would ever miss or notice them because of the minimal impact they have. Sure you can use them and they can be effective...but there is no true incentive to do so. In fact its more complicated.

Sigh. If you want everything perfectly balanced,
1) Remove all map features. Make maps into a chessboard.
2) Make all units perfectly identical. Same stats.
Perhaps different names, different uniforms. Just make it
into chess.
Then everyone will complain that the game's lost all flavor...
... Ah! But we made it BALANCED!
(Who can argue about THAT when both sides are 110%
equal and identical). If they bitch more, change the
uniforms too, and the names

Aesthetically I'd love a revamp of the Garand so it fires
much
faster (ffs, its a semi-automatic Rifle but fired slower than the bolt-action Rifles at pretty much all ranges?) but then either less accurate or with less damage to keep the dps the same.
But never going to happen.

I agree, real life isn't balanced,thats why I had the idea in the first place. If life where balanced we would be handing m16s and javelins over to the taliban.
