Solution to the Ostheer Music Debate
« on: June 01, 2010, 04:44:08 AM »
I've got an idea, it may not be possible but it's always worth a try, to solve the music issue for the Ostheer.

It would be simple, on the launcer, a new tab would be added called "Music". There are two exactly identical lists and would allow you two choices of music, be it Erika, Ride of the Valkyries or any of the other suggestions. You could also be able to revert back to the current Soviet menu music even. And maybe even be able to add a browse option to find your own music on your computer that you want the main menu music to be if it isn't one of the options above, so you could listen to say...death metal on COH's menu screen.

I think the simplest solution is just to keep it random like it is in vanilla CoH. Whenever you start the game, change something or exit a skirmish game (regardless of which army you played), the screen will display a random character from one of the factions and the appropriate music will play. The same could be done for EF.

I think that "Der Königgrätzer  Marsch" could fit, if it hasnt been suggested already.

I have a better idea.

Enter Company of Heroes, disable music, alt-tab, and start up winamp with your own music. Then go back into the game.

Problem solved.

I still have yet to hear some music suggestions that actually fits in with the Company of Heroes style.

I personally think the Valkyrie soundtrack by John Ottman is perfect. Just listen to these:

A Place to Change- could be used at the start of the game, during the building up phase.
Valkyrie Soundtrack - 7. A Place To Change

Olbricht Gives The Order- Same as above.
Valkyrie Soundtrack track 16-Olbricht Gives The Order

Important Call- Idle music.
Valkyrie Soundtrack track 14-Important Call

"Left 20, up 40, one round HE.....HANG IT!....FIRE!"

Not even Ride of the Valkyries? It's action-packed, makes you image the blitzkrieg, orchestral and is a true German piece. I think it fits perfectly.
