I have been playing a handful of EF games recently and I noticed that the AI in 1v1 matches always uses the breakthrough doctrine even if it doesn't seem to fit the map design very well. I have noticed with previous patches and such of COH that if the AI repeats the same strategy over and over again with no variation between maps than more than likely that doctrine or strategy is OP. I am not saying that breakthrough is OP but it kinda seems like the AI thinks so.

Just wondering if anybody else has noticed this or if it is just the handful of games I have played recently.

..not only the AI uses this doctrine. Even every player I played against has used this doctrine.

OP or not (donĀ“t want to start another endless discussion here) - in my opinion the breakthrough and propaganda strategies are impossible to counter (at least for me) in a 1vs1 setup.

Propaganda in some ways hard to deal with with Kats, trenches, Mgs, god of war, and god forbid red tide to deal with. Breakthrough though is very weak early on with the massive amount of XP it needs to get going and even then IL-2s take a while to charge and can be dodged on the move or shot down and ISUs are easily over powered 2 or more panthers especiallyif the the player does not support it's sides. I have seen that thing RAPE a KT on frontal armor before and yes it still does scare me. The AI also often picks thier doc based on the map or situation, on a bridged map they often go prop and spam Kats and sometimes urban to little success but there is always a breakthrough somewhere...

But what I am saying is that the AI doesn't seem to be choosing based on situation I played to games on lyon and both times the AI went breakthrough. granted two games isn't a large enough number to get a conclusive verdict but it plus all the other maps that I have been playing that the AI goes breakthrough on seems weird to me.

Usually if you box them in like that you end up with prop and break, the IL-2s are nasty for that. The second you try to push they start pulling kats too they use the damn things like they are disposible. Shoot, charge, die, buy new one, rinse and repeat.

the games i have played are the same, you basically fighting for your life the first 20 minutes, then the Russian comp starts building kats, and you win. Why? because that is ALL the russian builds, so in the end they just have kats everywhere, but nothing to back it up.

i have yet to fight a comp who would choose breakthrough

AI cant use artillery or place emplacements and MGs. Is was allways like this. Thats why UK AI sucks so much.

They can set up mortar pits and fire into the fog. Goddamn that's the most annoying thing.

I agree with nomad what are u talking about?? Are you playing easys? the brits mortar spam and if they go arty or commando they spam that and all MG enabled docs put bunkers in completely random places like in the middle of the base facing backwards but they do it right sometimes.
