Suggestion for Ostheer ( by GamblerSK )
« on: February 23, 2010, 02:32:25 PM »
Hello, sorry if someone before me had this idea and already wrote...i didn't read a lot of concepts...
so when you start a game you must choose a doctrine because you cant train anything except pioneers. Let me explain it
units which can be trained and build depends on which doctrine you select for example ostheer consist of 30 units, so when you choose a doctrine you can use 1/3 of them. so everytime when you choose different doctrine you will have different units you can train (infantry) and build (armored cars, tanks...) so its somehow unique and also you can get a high number of units for ostheer  even axis there can be one doctrine something like Axis and it consist of Italy, Hungary, Slovak, Romanian, Finish, Spain infantry, armored cars, tanks, artillery and other two can be Luftwaffe and ground forces and pure German war machinery
I hope i explain it good and hope people will be interest about that :)

Doesnt sound good  :-X
The reason is quiet simple:
1. point: Units by doctrine; thats an idea of the battle of the bulge mod and is not a typical CoH vanilla mechanism.
2. point: 30 Units? Sounds like u want to put in every unit u had found under the "google-searchword" - weapons of the eastern front -. 30 units! this is absolutely TOO much!
3. point: all axis in ONE side: well...thats like: i want everything in just ONE single unit.

No; sry man! This idea isnt good. Ostheer should be unique and not a collecting basin for every idea and every unit of the 2 world war!!!

EDIT: i have edit your topic name because there is already a thread with your topic name!
May the force be with you.

1. I didn't play that mod. Yes its not typical, that's why i post it here
2. those 30 units was for an EXAMPLE only
3 no it isn't because you will use Czech tank, some finish snipers, Romanian tank destroyer etc...the last doctrine should be mix of Axis units every country which fought there on the AXIS side will be represented in one doctrine, people wantit, that's why you see a lot of posts from people in those countries to include something like this

k, thx for the topic name...

Well: U said that the units were dependent on the doctrins, right? So. Now lets think about what for units a typical coh-faction-body need: 1x Infantry squad long range, 1x short range, 1x suppressing unit, 1x anti tank infantry unit, 1x kind of scout, 1x anti tank gun, 1x anti air gun, 1x tank, 1x tank destroyer, 1x kind of indirect firing gun - all in all: 11 units, right?
Well: When u use for all this units different weapons u will need around 30 units for ONE faction. When u wont use different units your doctrine-based unit-idea is senseless because when u get the same unit at different doctrines it seems to me that this isnt unique.
So, hope u understand my calculation ;)
Because that is the interpretation i get when i read your idea. When u dont mean this so i havent understand u then sorry man  ;)

i was meaning this, we have Wehrmacht and panzer elite one doctrine should be somehow similar to Wehrmacht style of play and one on style of PE but don't mean its just copy of Wehr or PE just different skin, no, i mean new units, abilities, weapons so doctrine you choose means how you want to play if more defensive or more aggressive and the last Axis doctrine is some mix of them for example but most with non German armament and units...maybe if my English was better then you could understand me better or we just have different view on things :)
